The menu has a variety of items ranging from BBQ pulled chicken and brisket to pizza and burgers. They also have a pretty big mixed drink menu and several beers to choose from. Service was good, our server was very attentive to our needs. I ordered the pulled chicken nachos. It wasn’t my favorite, the chicken was fatty, slimy, and chunky. I prefer to have my chicken more shredded than pulled, so my bad for not clarifying before I ordered. Taste was good for the most part. There were several people in our party and all the food looked amazing! Presentation 10/10. Our table ordered a variety of items including burgers, meatloaf, and salads.
Although the building and interior was cleaver unique, the whole experience including the food was
NOT memorable.
Ribs were dry/smoked bit too long. Mashed potatoes & beans excellent.
Beer selection good, drafts not cold enough. Fennel seed artichoke dip a preferred taste.
Tables are close and loud. Not a place for an romantic date. Great for families.
Get your pizza guys to wear real fireman’s hats, sound a siren and announce a special “FIVE ALARM” pizza as it comes out to a table. Give the kids a chance to wear a real fire jacket and hold a firehouse for a photo opportunity.
Not cheezy. Just fun and memorable so people want to come back.
Without making this place more memorable, this place is just another good restaurant (among many in town) and nothing more
! I would say the Korean pork tacos may have had a little bit too much slaw, but it was so delicious you just scrapped it off and ate it on the side if you so desired, I suppose more is better than the alternative being not enough.
The drink menu had plenty of options for those looking for an alcoholic beverage. Expansive draft beer list with lots of Michigan breweries on tap.
I really enjoyed my dinner and look forward to returning in the summer to check out the rooftop for a beer. Definitely would recommend the FFH if looking for a nice, not too fancy, meal while in Fenton.
Enjoyed the fire house theme and memorabilia through out. The food was good but a 50/50 of our group of 12 that felt their meal was good to average but no one said it was bad. Lacking that grate flavor I had hoped for. We will return again and look forward good flavors.
They have a very similar menu (albeit limited due to COVID), but unique items that make the restaurant unique.
For drinks –
First, I dont fully understand why they offer some cocktails, but not their original full menu. They had four of the ten available. I understand the pandemic, but not sure why you can’t have bloody mary mix on hand, and vodka doesn’t go bad.
The margarita was tasty. The beer wasn’t my favorite, but it wasn’t the fault of the restaurant. Just wasn’t my jam.
Round two was the berry mule and the lemonade. I about died when I took a drink of the lemonade, not realizing it was made with 100 proof moonshine. Ugh. Even after I knew about the moonshine, I went back to try it again and it was still gross. The mule was light, crisp and lovely.
We started with a small brussels salad and fried pickles. The pickles and dipping sauce were identical to the Woodshop and were delicious. Came out piping hot. The salad was AMAZING. The flavors, omg. Shaved Brussels sprouts with walnuts, dates, goat cheese, red onion, bacon, and a vinegary mustard dressing. It comes out warm and all the ingredients meld into a delicious bite. The only downside was that it is a LOT of flavor – and I found it to be over-dressed. The small portion was great for a two person app, but I can’t imagine trying to eat a large by yourself.
For entree, B got the pulled pork with the seasonal veg (green beans with cherry toms) and baked beans. We weren’t crazy about the pork. It seemed dry and lacked a smokey flavor that you’d expect from the Woodshop. It also didn’t come with BBQ sauce- when we asked for some, we got two (a “sweet” and a “spicy”). It wasn’t the full 6-7 that you can get from the Woodshop, which was disappointing. The seasonal veg was good – green beans were well cooked. I don’t know how to feel about the baked beans – they weren’t soupy, which isn’t bad, but it was a very tomato-based sauce. I went back for a couple bites but I just wasn’t blown away.
My entree was the chicken sandwich. Visually, it was stunning. Taste wise, good. Chicken was tender and moist. I think the smoked cheddar gave it a little bit of a funk and it could have had more salt and pepper, but overall it was an enjoyable dish that I would recommend.
Would I return? Yes, if not for that brussels salad, then for the atmosphere. The building is AWESOME. The owners know how to decorate.
We each got flights and loved the flight board with options for describing your tastes. We both liked the fried pickle spears breaded with a pancake like batter. I really enjoyed the burger of the month, “Elvis kicks the jam” or something. It had a lot of interesting toppings from peanut butter to jalapenos coleslaw…but worth the try. My wife liked the mac and cheese as it also matches the famous union station/woodshop joints further south. She said while it was good it was a little lacking the other places in Clarkston…maybe their ovens are more baked in with flavour?
I am sure we will return.
