Found this highly-rated spot and it was fantastic. It’s a wonderful fusion of traditional Japanese sushi and creative modern tapas. I loved their philosophy, which is even stated on the menu: they ‘do not appreciate: FANCY ROLLS.’ That’s when you know they’re serious about quality.
Everything we tried was delicious, but the absolute standout was the Mentaiko Udon. It exceeded all expectations. It was incredibly fragrant, perfectly seasoned (not too salty), and rich without being heavy at all. A must-order!
Another must-try is the Iku-uni-himo appetizer, which is a perfect bite of uni (sea urchin), monkfish liver (ankimo), and ikura (salmon roe). They finish it with a drizzle of truffle oil at the table. For the nigiri, the Scallop was the best we had—so fresh and sweet.
Highly recommend this place. A true gem in the city!

One of the most delightful spots in SF. Given how incredible the quality of their food is, they could charge more if they wanted to, but they keep it cozy. The Toro Uni Ikura mini-don is worth flying across the country for. The nigiri omakase is massively underpriced and incredible. The tri-tip katsu is light tapas fare (instead of a huge filling portion) that tastes better than what I had in Tokyo. Strong recommend.

After living in Tokyo for many years, I’ve struggled to find comparable Japanese food in SF… until I discovered this gem! It’s the best Japanese food — especially the nigiri omakase, miso walu, oxtail soup, flame torched saba (mackeral), and more. Wonderful service and chic izakaya ambiance. I’d give it 6 stars if I could!

Always come here for their Oxtail Pot, highly recommended for any soup lovers! Nigiris are great but not that overwhelming. Compared to other Omakase places in the city, I feel that the rice is typically too seasoned with soy sauce so might be a little salty. Wouldn’t recommend the squid karage as it’s too greasy (from multiple experiences). Anyway still loving their warm, romantic vibe overall! Great for dates or catchup with friends.

It was great, not many places are great at both sushi (omakase format) and Izakaya food.
They pull it off, and deserves its current 4.8. If it’s not already, it should be a bib.
One of the better Udons I’ve had and the nigiri had the right rice <> fish combo, the fish was excellent, and the rice was cooked right. I can get detailed and say that I think the temperature of the rice could be optimized, but then we’re talking about making something already fantastic into an even higher level.
Overall, great, and good service too.
Don’t always leave reviews, but def check this out.
The quintessential neighborhood sushi spot with a bonified Izakaya as well.

The food was amazing and the chef was engaging and fun. My friend and I both got the Omakase (as well as several other one-off orders). The fish was exceptional and the rice was perfect.

Everything I had here was high quality and very fresh. My favorite was the O Toro nigiri. Buttery texture and melts in the mouth. I’d probably skip the wagyu beef, but that’s just because I’m not a fan of beef. Even the simple spicy tuna roll was very good! Excellent sushi rice. Service was fantastic as well. I absolutely will be coming back here!

Had the most wonderful ikura, toro, uni don at Fennikusu the other day. They might not only specialize in sushi, but this is my favorite place to get sushi in SF at an affordable price. We also enjoyed all of the belly nigiri. Definitely check this place out.
