Felix’s Restaurant & Oyster Bar

  4.3 – 5 reviews  $$ • Cajun restaurant

The Felix’s story is that of the New Orleans oyster bar. Ask any New Orleanian where their dad or grandpa took them for their first oysters. The answer is always Felix’s.. Back in the 1940’s, Felix’s put the New Orleans oyster bar on the map, creating a place where oyster-lovers could ‘belly up to the bar’ and have the freshest oysters shucked right in front of them. Felix’s fast became a New Orleans’ institution that drew a devoted local, national and international following which has inspired generations of oyster fans.

Local seafood platters, fresh-shucked oysters & Creole staples in a casual barroom setting.

Seafood and Oyster Bar’s are ever so popular, with New Orleans being the Oyster capital of the world, oysters are served in dishes I would not have thought of! Po-boy sandwich (typically, a classic poboy includes toasted French bread stuffed fried oysters, and the sandwich is “dressed” with tomatoes, romaine lettuce, pickles, mayonnaise and a generous spread of hot sauce for a Creole “kick.” – Grilled oysters, deep fried soft-shell crab . Breakfast is typically served with a biscuit, grits, eggs, and chicken or spicy Cajun sausage. – You need to eat here! Absolutely amazing

Justin was our waiter, he did an awesome job. Food was great, especially the jambalaya and red beans with rice. Was a bit loud and a steak was a tad over done but overall it was a really enjoyable experience!

Oh. My. Word. The chargrilled oysters are to die for! Also had a delicious 1/2 dozen raw oyster. We tried the soft shell crab poboy and the gator poboy. Our poboys were perfectly dressed with mayo, lettuce & tomato. The poboy bread is fantastic! The fries were perfectly crisp. Our server was friendly & attentive. The service was prompt. Our seating was a little tight. Interesting… our server asked if she could make our cocktail sauce for us at the table…this may be routine at this establishment, but I thought that was a nice little extra. Clean restrooms. Will plan to visit again. Will recommend to others.

If you are looking for a place to have oysters, this place is it! The combination of “West Coast, East Coast and Gulf Coast” oysters are meaty, succulent, flavorful, and huge! We sat at the counter and thoroughly enjoyed the company of our server Vincent, who tirelessly shucked oyster after oyster with a smile and great sense of humor! We went in on a Sunday night and were immediately seated. My spicy Bloody Mary had the right amount of heat and flavor, my husband’s Wagyu burger was juicy and perfectly medium-rare, and the Crawfish Étouffée was amazing! While there’s plenty of seating in this casual spot, I highly recommend the counter. It’s a great spot to watch the action and enjoy the great company on both sides!

I have been following this place on Instagram for a while and I finally got my chance. This place does not disappoint. The char-grilled oysters are way better than I imagined. The raw oysters are so fresh that you need no toppings. If you go to New Oreleans, do not be fooled by other locations that say they have the best oysters… Awesome… You also get an entire singing show at the bar. Thanks

We went there about 8pm. So we didn’t need to wait for be seated. The waitress Madi (don’t know how to spell) was very friendly and helpful. Fried calamari is not that good, I didn’t eat any meat in it(that’s why I put 3 stars), but the grilled oysters are delicious.

Very nice oysters, definitely need to try the char grilled oysters, never had it before and it was so good. Love that they have those sampler style options (i.e., soup trio and the bayou sampler) for tourists like me to sample the must-haves southern food. Seafood platter is a bit overpriced imo, bbq shrimp po boy is good especially since it’s hot and fresh. Expect long waits as it’s located in a tourist packed area but our waitress is friendly and made sure we enjoyed our food.
