The Felix’s story is that of the New Orleans oyster bar. Ask any New Orleanian where their dad or grandpa took them for their first oysters. The answer is always Felix’s.. Back in the 1940’s, Felix’s put the New Orleans oyster bar on the map, creating a place where oyster-lovers could ‘belly up to the bar’ and have the freshest oysters shucked right in front of them. Felix’s fast became a New Orleans’ institution that drew a devoted local, national and international following which has inspired generations of oyster fans.

Local seafood platters, fresh-shucked oysters & Creole staples in a casual barroom setting.

I was a little skeptical dining in here only because honestly it looked a little empty at first. Walking in I discovered that there were two additional rooms within the restaurant. Very spacious and once we got seated a crowd of guest came in right behind us. Our server Gloria was an absolute delight, so polite and she made the whole experience 10 times better. She explained the menu well and to a first timer that was much an appreciated. I would definitely dine here again wonderful place to get some really god oyster! OH and the best part the char-grilled oysters were fantastic!!! My favorite part actually

I LOOOVE THIS PLACE!!! My first time visiting New Orleans and this was my very first stop so all of the other restaurants had a very tall order to fill.

First off the manager, “Ty will get you by” was so friendly and helpful. We were celebrating our honeymoon so they gave us a beautiful private table on the balcony overlooking the parades and people partying (Halloween). Then to make things even better he sent us the best waitress in the joint “Sweets”. She was fantastic and we had so much fun talking with her, she was a delight for sure. Even the others who helped her Paul the manager and Austin the waiter were great too.

And now for the food and drinks! We ordered the following: Iberville hurricane, pineapple express, French 75, Whiskey Tree Bourbon (award winning whiskey), Chargrilled oysters, Grilled oysters, Rockefeller oysters, Alligator sauted, Turtle soup, Seafood Gumbo, Crab tips, red beans and rice, Fried shrimp platter with hush hush puppies, shrimp Felix special poboy. Let me say everything here was good, but those chargrilled oysters were EVERYTHING!!! No one in the city had oysters like these! I also really enjoyed the crab tips and the hurricane drink was so sweet just like I like it. This place really left a mark on my heart and I can’t wait to visit again soon.

We stumbled across this gym by accident and I am so glad we did. We visited the Monday before fat Tuesday so they were extremely busy, but the host was able to see us in front of the oyster bar. The two gentleman that worked the oyster bar were absolutely amazing, very friendly did not make us feel rushed and we’re very knowledgeable about The food and offered great suggestions.
We’re from east North Carolina, where we practically have oysters in our backyard so I was a little hesitant to try some and be disappointed because they’re not like ours at home, but I am so glad that I did. Hands-down, I could say that the oysters on the half shell or some of the best I’ve ever had.
Including the oysters, we also tried the fried alligator bites, the fish and shrimp plate with the brussels sprouts, which were also amazing. I tried the gumbo and turtle soup, which I was Also great and flavorful.
All around this was a great experience and we will definitely put it on our must visit list the next time we are in town 10/10

Had an amazing experience at Felix’s Restaurant & Oyster Bar on Bourbon Street. I ordered the gumbo ya ya and the char-grilled oysters, and both were fantastic — rich, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for in New Orleans.

What really made the visit special was our server, Mai. She was exceptional — an absolute bundle of joy. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely upbeat, she made us feel welcome from start to finish and elevated the whole experience. Service like hers is the reason you come back. Highly recommend!

With so many standout seafood spots in New Orleans, Felix’s Restaurant & Oyster Bar ended up being a mixed experience.

The combo grilled oysters lacked consistency — some overcooked, others undercooked — and the overall seasoning didn’t stand out compared to other oyster houses in the city. The seafood gumbo was surprisingly mild and noticeably light on seafood, with okra being the dominant flavor. The crawfish étouffée had an unusually doughy texture and contained very little crawfish, which was disappointing.

That said, the pickle chips were excellent — perfectly crisp and well-seasoned. The jambalaya and red beans and rice were also well executed and delivered the depth of flavor I was hoping for. Service from Heaven was warm, attentive, and professional throughout the meal.

The dirty martini was good. I

Jessica was my waitress and she was always tending the table, suggested food which was great and never had to wait too long for a drink. I’m picky when it comes to pasta and the pasta she suggested was great. Just a tiny bit salty but helps balance the meal. I got Pastafelix, had oyster and big shrimp. Pasta was creamy. Other places I go to have watery pasta. Atmosphere is not too tight and great place for family. If I come back I’m asking for Jessica

We got to Felix at lunch today right as they opened. Service was fantastic. The margaritas were fine, maybe a little on the weak side. I loved the crabcake but there were some shells in it. The flavor was fantastic though. The gumbo was great. My wife had the blackened gator po boy. I had a couple of bites of the gator, and that was the best taste of the meal. It didn’t work as a sandwich though. The bread was so so.

Not mad about the meal at all. Great value and atmosphere.

Amazing experience at Felix’s! The chargrilled oysters were absolutely incredible – perfectly cooked with that smoky, buttery, garlicky goodness. Some of the best I’ve ever had!

The service and hospitality were fantastic. Big shoutout to Darrin, who took exceptional care of us and made the whole experience memorable. His recommendations were spot-on and his service was top-notch.

If you’re craving phenomenal chargrilled oysters with great service, Felix’s is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back!

The home of oysters Rockefeller. We wanted to try a fancy restaurant in the quarter, and which better than one of the oldest restaurants in the city. The food was okay, and perhaps not worth the price. We still nonetheless enjoyed the meal; which was tasty. The cocktails were especially good and well made, and the service was great

A must place to eat! This is a causal setting but the food is something you’d find at a 5 star establishment. There can be a line outside so plan to come before or after peak dinner times, and the food can come slowly but worth it! Can’t go wrong with the oysters, as they all were worth it. This is a place you could order anything from menu added not be disssapointed!
