Longtime, family-run trattoria with a full bar & patio making thin-crust pies & other Italian eats.

I/we really wanted to love this generational established eatery, for it came highly recommended- we drove the 65 miles one way to get there. Yes, their thin crust pizza is seriously amazing!! but the service left a lot to be desired, and also, we were seated in a booth that should not be used unless the entire place is full.
We placed our order, waited 30 minutes and still no food, so we decided to ask a passing waiter if he could check on our order- we did not see our waitress since placing our order. In any event, the young man came back to tell us, the waitress said, “She got busy and never put your order in.” The young man (very courteous) then placed our order according to what the waitress told him it was.
When he brought our food, my order was not correct. I told him, “I’ll eat it because I was so hungry, but please check that I’m not about to eat someone else’s food.” He checked on that, it wasn’t someone else’s food- just an incorrect order for me.
Our booth: a two seater right behind the hostess podium. With the price of eating out constantly increasing, people are not only looking for tasty food reasonably prices, but also a relaxing experience. The hostess podium was a gathering place for workers not busy- and talk, talk, talk was pretty non-stop and not exactly soft spoken. It wasn’t easy to ignore it. With many other empty tables- don’t put people in the booth behind the podium OR don’t let it become a ‘watering hole’ space. I was really looking forward to some peaceful, relaxing time out.
It was awesome to be in Springsteen’s hometown & eat in a place he frequented, but I so wished the service was much, much better.

I was actually here over 20 yrs ago. I remember loving the pizza. Well, the wife and I just went their tonight. Excellent bar pie. No fold. Their homemade creamy Italian dressing is a game changer. The wife was spooning up every last bit of it. The place is clean, as were the restrooms. Our waiter, Joseph, was excellent. Glad we got their early cuz as we left there were a long line of ppl waiting to be seated. Get there before 5! Delicious

Heard so much about this place, so we decided to stop by since we were in the area. The fried ravioli was great, but the star is really the pizza. Ordered a sausage pie – really really good. Crisp, flavorful, even in the crust which can be a flavorless on pizzas this thin. Will be back soon

Went here after looking at the very good reviews, and because this was supposed to be one of the best pizza places in nj. There is a lot of seating. Started with a ravioli, which was ok. Ordered two pies, garlic and olives and other was onions and peppers. In general the pizza was very underwhelming. The sauce was extremely mild in taste, the pizza base was crispy but no flavor. Not enough garlic in the garlic pie. Service was good. Overall wont recommend anyone to go.

Definitely the best thin crust pizza I’ve ever had in my life. I guess all good things come to an end. This January my parents moved to North Carolina and every single summer when I fly over 2000 miles to come home and visit it was just one of those staples that had to be done. Part of my wish list was to visit to my favorite Italian restaurant. My family and I have known the owners for many years, including the sons who took over the family business. My Dad was born and raised in Freehold and lived very close to the Federici Family. I will always be forever grateful to the Federici’s for being such an important part of my family’s life for so long. There’s a reason why you’ve been in business 100+ years your reputation is outstanding and everybody knows it.

Coming from New York, I’ve never had this style of pizza before, but I absolutely love it – a strong 7.9. It’s the perfect introduction to a bar pie. The dough is like a cracker – ultra-thin and crispy, with no fluff, depth, or char. It’s a firm base carrying a generous layer of quality, savory cheese speckled with char. The sauce cuts through with a bright, lively kick that ties it all together, creating a perfectly soupy yet controlled balance. Altogether, it’s an incredibly satisfying and binge-worthy style of pizza.
The only real downside is that it’s a bit of a messy, hands-on eating experience, and you have to wrangle each slice together. But once you do, it goes down easy with no heavy afterfeel, since the oil comes naturally from the melted cheese rather than from excess added oil.

I’ve been coming to this Italian restaurant since I was a kid, and it has never missed. This place is pure comfort food and nostalgia in the best way possible. The pizza is hands-down my favorite anywhere — consistently delicious every single time. The mozzarella sticks and fried ravioli are absolute must-orders and might honestly be the best I’ve ever had.
Beyond the appetizers and pizza, the Italian dinners are just as incredible. Everything tastes homemade, fresh, and made with care, the kind of food you keep craving long after you leave. It’s one of those rare spots that stays great year after year, which is probably why I keep coming back.
If you’re looking for a go-to Italian place with amazing food and a classic, welcoming feel, this is it. Couldn’t recommend it more.

It’s rare when you can go back to a place that was meaningful to you as a child and it is nearly exactly the same. I went on a Wednesday night after a long draining day and everything about the visit was perfect. Went with my old ‘go to’ – chowder and a pizza. Perfection. The chowder is top notch and always surprised me that it would be this good at a pizza shop. The service is great – please don’t listen to any of the naysayers…they just don’t get what makes this place so special. It feels warm and welcoming, old school and proud – but not in an arrogant way. They invite you in as family and never make you feel like you have to go, even when it is busy. Their espresso is also top-notch and a perfect finisher. Parking is still free in the back but I believe you have to pay a small amount from Thurs to Sat in the night-time. It’s worth it. Cash only btw, so come equipped. An A+ Class Act. RIP Patsy, your legacy will live on.

I did a takeout order of the chicken parmigiana. Excellent. Crisp, plenty of cheese, and piping hot. Great price.

Stopped in after I happened to be in the area and read the reviews, we were promptly seated upstairs, as the restaurant filled up quickly on a Saturday night. We ordered some drinks and a whole cheese pie as an appetizer. They are known for their thin crust pies and Italian favorites, the pizza came out piping hot and it did not disappoint. The crust was thin and crispy and held up well to the cheese and sauce on top. For dinner we had the Veal and the Chicken Parmeggiana, beautifully cut and breaded veal topped with a nice sauce and perfectly melted mozzarella, the same for the chicken, all items came with sides of pasta. This place is definitely worth the five stars, great atmosphere, very family friendly, excellent service and lots of old local history. Bring cash, no credit or debit cards, but ATM is in the back.
