Came on a Saturday — highly recommend getting reservations. The ambiance was really nice – not too loud but the hum of humans chatting quietly was really calming. Low lighting and cozy seating is great. Drinks are a standout, excellent selection of options — and the cocktails are really good! Food was okay, I don’t think I would come here for food as a primary motivation — our entrees all needed a little more acid or heat. Fish dishes came out kind of lukewarm, the pasta dish was too blunt with the cheese being too dense on the pasta and the seafood being really chewy. I’d stick to ordering their small plates Service is good, relaxed, professional with no hovering, just friendly people making sure you’re having a good time. Fawn is a place to drink slowly, talk with your friends for a while, and maybe forgive a few culinary missteps because the bar definitely gets the important things right. Definitely will visit again for the bar.

I had a really great experience here.
TLDR: Food menu is entirely seafood focused. Drinks are all amaro-based and mostly all stirred, no juice is used in this bar. It is definitely very pricey. It is, however, very good. Would recommend if seafood and unique drink offerings are up your alley.

SERVICE:
I came in by myself on a Tuesday evening, and it was not super crowded. The bartender was incredibly knowledgeable and had excellent suggestions for any particular tastes. He also clearly had a good eye for when to check up on you without being overbearing. Everyone there seemed to really care about what they were making, but without any feeling of pretentiousness, which was nice. Overall very good!

FOOD:
The menu is broken down into Noshes, Bites, Tastings, and Plates. Noshes seem to be shareable plates, good for groups. Bites are like a smaller starter, more for one person. Tastes are like 1-2 bite snacks. Lastly, Plates are like a typical entree for one. I ordered the Pommes Macaire(Bites), Spaghettini(Plates), and Warm Oysters(Tastings) to get a feel for the different categories on the menu. Pommes Macaire were rich potato cakes with a seafood twist. Spaghettini was incredibly decadent and cheesy, with great bites of mussels and clams throughout. The warm oysters were an incredible combination of flavors, and definitely a highlight. Everything was presented very nicely and was packed with flavor.

DRINKS:
The drinks definitely lean more boozy and stirred down, but they were immaculately balanced. It is impressive how fresh and crisp the bartender could make a stirred drink taste. As the drinks are all amaro-based, I would be prepared for some aspect of bitterness in most of them. I do not typically like drinks like this, but as I mentioned earlier, the bitterness was balanced perfectly with every other aspect of the drinks. If you have any concerns or questions about the flavor profile of anything on the menu, I have no doubt the bartender would be able to make a solid recommendation. Same goes for the wine. I gave an honestly unhelpful request of “I like red wine, but I’m not particular, give me something interesting”, and he suggested a wine that paired excellently with the Spaghettini.

OVERALL:
If you want to treat yourself to something special, and you like seafood, this is a great place to try. Prepare for a fairly expensive meal, especially if you want to try multiple food offerings and get multiple drinks. However, for that price, I feel like you get great service and even better food.

Intimate and cozy with semi decent decor , our services was great. Only got to try 3 items on the menu from a wide range of Selections on the menu , everything was fantastic especially the dry aged grouper. Definitely an exploration eating experience. If you want to try something you have not had before especially in seafood-fish this is your place . They focus mainly on that . One small disappointment I have was the wine selection, only because
I read from some other reviewers that the restaurant had big wine list , they don’t . Overall it was a pleasurable night out with great food and good wine from Fawn.

Good food, good vibes. Cocktails are spirit forward with a great wine list. It is a seafood based restaurant and with cheese/cured fish board. They cure their own fish in house. I got the Caligula drink, really well balanced of spirit, bitter, and sweet. My husband got the bittersweet symphony which was more spirit and bitter forward, still well balanced. For food we got the snapper collar special and razor clams. Both really good. Ended with the affogato. I’d say it’s more of a drinks and bites place verse a full meal unless you do the tasting menu

Jenn and Terry Koval have set the standard for the rest of Decatur’s restaurants; not only with delicious food, but how they indeed fawn over their guests with the highest level of hospitality. Don’t be surprised if Jenn fills your water and Terry mixes your cocktail. Fawn Wine + Amaro, their newest adventure, is a clever and successful niche take on the aperitivo concept with a vast wine and Amaro selection that pair with a limited but curated menu.

Incredible small wine bar! Allie was very knowledgable. They have wines from volcanic regions and we had their Chardonnay sparking (Almacita Winery, Brut Nature, UCO valley, Argentina), as well as a red from Greece – Limino, Savvoglou Tsivolas Winery (“Lemnos Red”) from Lemnos. Chardonnay wine was dry, slightly bubbly, refreshing. Limnio was a light red…dry, oaky, and earthy. We also had an expresso, which was very smooth. Would absolutely recommend!

This is a can’t miss new destination in Decatur. The volcanic terroir wine and amaro collection is extensive and amaro flights are excellent. Food is seafood focused and superb. The tasting menu is not to be missed!

If you have two people, any of the seats at Fawn will be cozy and amazing. If you have four, try to get seats at the bar because those cozy booths are tight. We made reservations for four for a birthday dinner and were tucked (hilariously, all of our knees were touching) into one of those booths. Luckily, there were four seats at the bar that we moved to instead and had an amazing comfortable dinner with excellent drinks and top notch service. There are not many restaurants in the area that have a deep focus on seafood, and Fawn shows excellence in many different preparations. The bartenders had great drink recommendations, and the atmosphere was busy but quiet enough you didn’t have to yell at the person next to you. We’ve been big fans of Deer and the Dove and B-Side, and we’re super happy that Fawn has joined the family.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a very, very long time. The space is warm and intimate, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the menu is as delicious as it is courageous. A refreshing reminder that fine dining should pique your curiosity and test the boundaries of your palette. Can’t wait to go back.
