The service was great and food was just okay. Some things better than others. Some dishes are overpriced for what you get but all in all not a terrible experience.
I would give them another try for sure. The salmon I had was a bit overcooked and the portion was tiny. The prime rib sliders were good and the thinly sliced fried onions were a great touch. The market fried rice was alright but nothing special. The steak however was not good. Was chewy and unseasoned.
The menu is a good mix between bar food and some American and Asian fare.
We made a reservation in advance for a table for 7 people. When we showed up, they asked for a minute to set up. They then led us to the bar area where they had pushed 2 small and round high-top cocktail bar tables together. We let them know it wasn’t going to work because someone in our group had accessibility needs. They replied they didn’t know that (which is true, they didn’t). While they were discussing among themselves what to do, my husband ran to Fat Rosie’s to see if they had a low table that could actually fit 7 adults before everyone else in our party arrived. Because, let’s be so for real, those 2 high-top cocktail tables pushed together was no way going to fit 7 adults & their full meals, with or without our accessibility needs.
They then came back, and to their credit, opened a different part of the restaurant that had been closed. I was still unsure of what we were going to do, so I told them that my husband was looking into the other restaurant. They tried to say that Fat Pour was better. At this point I did call them out and said, “yeah, but you aren’t prepared for us even when we made a reservation, so…” They told me that wasn’t the case and they were ready, which it was just so clear that they were trying to save face. I then was walking out to call my husband because I wanted to tell him let’s scrap it and go to Fat Rosie’s. On my way out, I heard one of the hostesses make a rude remark about me.
Then others in our party arrived and they wanted to go back in. I shouldn’t have let my family go back in after the hostess made the first rude comment about me as I left the first time. I’ll own that. But we did and I said something along the lines of, “we’re going to Fat Rosie’s because they have an actual table for us.” I was over it, so I wasn’t bubbly about it but instead very direct in what I was saying. But I didn’t yell either. I was just matter of fact about it. They tried to say they had a table, too. I was like, “c’mon, you clearly forgot about our reservation and scrambled to put something together.” I sort of did a head shrug with raised eyebrows that you’d expect to see on the face of someone who knew they were getting BSed, admittedly. But I still wasn’t yelling. I’d say my tone was also of someone who knew they were getting BSed. I hate being lied to and it was so clear that they scrambled when we walked in because they truly weren’t ready or for our reservation.
Instead, they kept insisting that wasn’t the case and stopped me as I was trying to leave for the second so they could explain to me how they had all these other reservations so that the bar area was the only option left. I told them don’t take a reservation then if you can’t accommodate it. They insisted they could which is why they put us, 7 adults, at 2 small round high-top cocktail tables. Even if this was true and they didn’t forget, the size of the tables no way would have fit seven adults comfortably. Surely they have eyes and could see that.
There was literally no accountability & a lot of attitude & excuses. If they had just owned it and were like, “we made a mistake and we’re looking to make it right,” I’d have considered staying. But there was zero of that. Instead they made it seem like we were being unreasonable. I truly can’t remember the last time I was treated this rudely somewhere. I mean that. I was floored at how rude they were.
We’ve gone here for years with no incidents until now. But we won’t ever go back after this.
I also tried the passion fruit daiquiri. It was tasty, though the dragon fruit flavor was a bit strong and overpowered the passion fruit. Still enjoyed it, but for $16 I wish it had been a bit bigger.
Our server Maria was incredibly sweet and attentive. The service was fast and the food came out quickly. It was our first visit and we are definitely looking forward to coming back.
Steak was juicy and flavorful.
Nachos were gigantic and tasty.
Knowledgeable staff.
We visited on a Wednesday night with a party of eight. It wasn’t busy at all, and we were seated promptly at our reservation time, which was a great start. We began with appetizers, all of which were delicious and well-prepared.
However, the service left much to be desired. Our server didn’t return to take our entrée orders until about 30–40 minutes after the appetizers were served, and the main courses arrived another 30 minutes after that. While the timing wasn’t unreasonable for a larger group, the lack of attentiveness throughout the meal was disappointing.
It was difficult to get our server’s attention, and she was noticeably absent for most of the evening. There were no water refills, and we had to ask the busboy for condiments. Despite the restaurant not being busy, the server only reappeared to drop off the check and bring boxes—after we had to flag someone down.
Would I return for the food? Probably yes. But the service experience needs significant improvement before I’d consider dining in again.
