Great place for a relaxing bite to eat. It’s a bit of a drive but it’s worth it. Beautiful location in the woods with a play area for the kids, patio seating, and a stage for live music. I loved the large selection of side dishes. The cheesy cabbage was phenomenal!

We found this gem about a year ago and the addiction has begun. This is an awesome property and has a good setup of indoor or outdoor seating with games and a band area as well outside. The staff and owners are so nice and the service is top notch. They have a well stocked bar with cold beer also, always a plus. And then the food!!! Such a good variety of smoked meat and bbq classics with a few twists on some dishes as well. The sides are all homemade and delicious. As for dessert get it while it lasts, so good. We have never had a problem here and I was very impressed for Mothers Day when they pulled off feeding a very, very long line of customers that day. My hats off to you and they didn’t run out of food like most bbq joints often do on “normal” days. Shout out to the meat trio with some habanero bbq sauce, smoked turkey with the Alabama white sauce, broccoli pasta salad, and them homeade garlic mashed taters that they put a alot of work into to make them that smooth. Peanut Butter pie is heaven as well. Fat Jimmies is well worth any drive and any wait, you will not be disappointed.

I came in from Des Moines for work and ate dinner here. This family run establishment is absolutely amazing! I ate the meat trio. The brisket is super thick and fall apart tender. The sliced turkey was moist, thick & delicious. The burnt ends were awesome. The cheesy hash brown casserole is to die for & the Mac & cheese is creamy & yummy! The service is 5 stars & the owner even gave me a rice crispy treat when I left (also amazing) Driving in from my hotel in Keokuk, the view of the river was spectacular! I will be back in the spring, because I can’t wait to visit when I can sit outside and listen to live music there. Thank you so much to your family for the hospitality! I will tell everyone I know to visit this gem!! Oh, I almost forgot, the habanero bbq sauce shouid be bottled & sold!!

Food was so good!! Brisket just fell apart and melted in your mouth. Mac and cheese was delicious, the cheesy cabbage was delicious, mashed potatoes, green beans, burnt ends, sweet heat pulled pork, all of it was so good!! Comfort food to the extreme! The habanero BBQ sauce was my favorite. Highly recommend for great barbecue.

This past weekend Fort Madison had a little festival going on at Central Park, I noticed a BBQ food truck and knew my boyfriend and I had to try this. Don’t think twice. Go! This was hands down the best place for a brisket and I’m not a big fan of BBQ items! Their bake beans were amazing along with the broccoli pasta salad! I was blown away by the pasta salad on how good it was along with the garlic mash potatoes I loved how there were pieces of potato skins in it. Now let’s get to the main dish, the brisket was so tender it melt in my mouth and the sauce along with it went great with it! I bet their restaurant in Montrose is great but their food truck was also amazing.

What a wonderfully delicious place hidden back along the river. Ordered from the counter with lots of options. The brisket was very good. My Family also had the burnt ends and pulled pork. Everything was delicious. The cheesy hash browns were especially good. If you happen to be driving along the Mississippi River Road North of Keokuk this is a great stop for wonderful BBQ.

We came in with a group of 11 the service was amazing the staff was great and the food was better than expected. The decor throughout was awesome especially the bathrooms will absolutely be back next time I’m in the area. Unfortunately we missed the live music the little bit we heard was great.

This was our first time, and it won’t be our last. The brisket was so tender that you could hardly get it with a fork. The burnt ends were just right. The sweet hot pulled pork left just enough zing. The cheesy cabbage was stupendous. The helpings were super generous. The smoked turkey was perfect. The baked beans were awesome as was the garlic mashed potatoes. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather. We weren’t disappointed. This place is definitely out of the way, but well worth the trip!

So it’s refreshing when you get to see people who love what they do. Fat Jimmy’s BBQ is one of the best places to see this. The food is spectacular, the service is fast and friendly. You order straight from the line. They have all of your standard BBQ fare (it’s simple done right) the sides are excellent- we had the Meat Trio ( pulled pork, brisket, and shredded chicken)and the Burnt Ends. The meat is kept very simple but smoked perfectly. You have the option of four sauces, my favorite is the Blues Hog. The Garlic Mashed red potatoes are some best ever. We had the Snickers Apple salad and mashed sweet potatoes are good. We saved room for dessert which was the Fire side Vanilla Cupcake- made that day. The buttercream frosting was very scrumptious. As for the vibe and ambiance of the place both inside and out is simple elligance. We got a real kick of the pin-up girls in the men’s room. You can see the smokehouse where they smoke the meats for up to twelve hours. This is worth the time and money. Fat Jimmy and Skinny Kimmy got it right. We’ll definitely be back.
