My daughter found this restaurant on our way heading up highway 101. I would say it is a must if you are traveling up or down highway 101. Staff is friendly and food was yummy.! I got the rueben with French fries, my daughter got the fish and chips and my niece got a burger. The coleslaw that came with the fish and chips was delicious. We also had the calamari for a appetizer. Very well done and both sauces that came with it was delicious.

Great experience at Fat Irish Pub! Peter’s service was outstanding—friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help, which made the visit smoother and more enjoyable. The Irish Lord was tasty and very filling; plenty of food and well seasoned. My only minor gripe: the fish tacos were a little dry, but everything else more than made up for it. Cozy atmosphere and attentive staff — I’ll be back. Highly recommend!

We had such a wonderful time at fat Irish kitchen! I was in Brookings for work with my wife traveling with me and we just didn’t know where to go, our hotel receptionist said we should come here and man are we glad we listened!
The vibe is exactly what you expect from a awesome little Irish pub. Lots of beer artwork on the walls, cool little tree of life art, and the friendliest staff you’ll ever find.
The bartender Holly was the most friendly bartender I’ve had in I feel like a decade or more, and the bar back Josh was pretty awesome himself. He gave us some wonderful tips for some other places to eat at as we travel around the state, and all in all both of them gave us some pretty epic conversation. We almost never said at the bar, we decided to this time and I’m so glad that we did!
The food was so so, nothing to really write home about but nothing really wrong either. It’s bar food, you get what you expect when you go to an Irish pub. Taco Tuesday was well worth it, I’m a pescatarian so I had the fish taco and then tried their awesome potato taco and enjoyed the potato taco the most actually! I wouldn’t pay what they normally charge for these tacos, they’re pretty basic and the tortillas are not grilled nearly enough, but Taco Tuesday made three tacos only $10.50 and I could mix and match between all the different types so that was totally worth it!
My wife tried the honey mustard chicken salad and unfortunately it did not live up to what she had hoped for. It was a really basic salad the veggies were fresh which was fortunate but it was basic, nothing was really seasoned, the honey mustard dressing didn’t taste like mustard at all and the chicken was basic breaded chicken that tasted like it was from Dairy Queen. It was fresh, but still tasted like it was from Dairy Queen.
All In all, the drinks and the bartender will definitely keep us coming back. Next time it’ll just be for some drinks and some fries probably, but I definitely can’t wait to try the steamer clams with jalapenos.

Never a bad idea to go here! The BEST fish and chips on the coast. I had the ahi tuna with all the goodies and was incredibly happy with it. Great atmosphere with plenty of food and drink options. Staff is always fabulous. Outdoor seating available, close to the ocean. You’ll love it!!

Nice little place to grab a drink order a meal. There are three of us one got the pasta and shrimp dish one got the cottage pie and I got the fishing chips. Every one of them was outstanding. Peter was our server and did a great job. He was very attentive and stopped to talk to us several times. If you’re in the area or local check this place out he’ll be glad you did

Stove (aka Brian) is an incredible waiter, he remembered our order from the night before. Jo was amazing too, she is very friendly with AMAZING hair! Dessert was boozy and delicious! Food is phenomenal!

We came for dinner about 5pm on July 13, 2025. They were busy (as expected) but sat us inside very quickly. The outside tables were booked up. Our server was prompt, helpful and friendly. Great service. Our food was not quite over-the-top as we usually receive here. We both ordered the Fish and Chips. Arrived hot but a tad mushy…possibly the fryer wasn’t hot enough, fryer vat wasn’t cleaned, or the fish had sat for a bit…not sure. Prices are good value with solid portions. The ONLY thing we did not like was the coleslaw. The taste of vinegar was very overpowering. I realize the Irish style of coleslaw leans toward tasting vinegary but this batch was missing something(s). We will definitely come back because our past visits were awesome.
