After looking through some reviews trying to find a good chicken fried steak at a new place, we found Fat Ernie’s. Stopped in around noon, and it was crowded, but there were a few tables available.
Our waitress was great, and all the servers were working their tails off as we watched them deliver large plates of lunch and breakfast foods. My wife and I each had the chicken fried steak with side salad. I also had baked beans and tater tots. She had mashed potatoes and fried okra. It was all delicious. The chicken fried steak was very tender. Come hungry as portions are large.
Their menu is huge, so we look forward to returning to try some of the other offerings.

Highly recommend!! We stopped here simply by Google search of the area. Ehen we got there 10 min before opening there were people lined up outside. Even tho they got us in quickly and served GREAT food in large amounts! Kindess overflowed as well!

The food was very good and prices very reasonable. Meatloaf was great. Chicken Fried Steak was huge and very tasty. Chicken fried chicken too. Catfish fillet was big crispy and delicious. Pork chop is thin, dry and overcooked. Tater tots were hot and crispy. French fries were good, but needed more time to crisp in fryer. They were very busy and took a long time to order and receive food – spent 90 minutes from arrive to finish eating. Service was good. We all agreed we’d eat there again. Tight parking both front and back lots.

As soon as you walk in you know. Not sure if they give discounts to veterans or what but it was nice seeing all the veterans there. Our waitress was great with 2 tables and small children she was great, sorry couldn’t remember name. And food! We had a great visit to this hole in the wall from the days of old. The staff was personable and courteous. The chicken gizzards were definitely my favorite. The chicken fried steak was good as well. The cheeseburger was delicious along with fries. When trying the mini corn dogs, they were good as any other corn dogs. We really look foward to returning again.

First impressions are everything, other than the smell of cigarette smoke, they exceeded my expectations! Looks can be deceiving. Who would’ve guessed such great food was being served inside building that doesn’t really look like a restaurant. This place has a mom and pop feel to it, not over extravagant but family oriented. Great service and amazing food!!! The give you Large portions of food with no lack!. Chicken strips are very large, juicy, tender and full of flavor. I’ve got my money’s worth plus some. So for this reason this place gets a 5 !
