I was disappointed as it’s local, and not too many places are open after 2nd shifts are done for the day in this smaller, quiet town.
We ordered our drinks while looking over the menu. Beers came out, there was zero head, and beer was only slightly chilled.
We placed the food order and hung out amidst the divider wall, giving this bar a dual area with pool tables, games & the bar on 1/2, and high top tables on the other half with tv’s surrounding these areas.
Food came out fairly quickly. I decided on appetizers, and hubby got the tenderloin as it’s typically a safe bet.
Chips & queso tasted like stale chips and a hint of “I don’t know what” but not chips.
My fried portobello mushrooms were overcooked and dark, tasted like oil needed cleaning. Husband ate the tenderloin but quietly said it tasted overcooked and burnt. The man eats pretty much whatever is put in front of him and never complains if a meal is off.
Ok, food isn’t great, but we came in about an hour and 15 min or so before the kitchen closed. So this visit was later in the evening.
The ticket came, and the total was $50+. Wow, pricing as follows, mushroom $11.$$ + $8.$$+14.$$ 3 beers total don’t really remember other than maybe $4 /5.$$ for them. Fairly reasonable.
I know prices have increased, but honestly, this meal was worth about $15 & I’d pay up to $30 especially for how it was cooked and consider giving a 2nd chance to them but not at $50+.
The server did take off the chips & and dip, so we appreciated that. It somehow only dropped it to $48.$$, I believe. Having been in the food service, i feel someone should have noticed the food was definitely sub-par and had it re-cooked. I definitely wouldn’t have ever served that to customers.
We chose not to say anything about it as this is just how it is when you try something new. However with pricing and checks having to stretch further and date nights a rarity we will be skipping the 4 star pricing and continuing our hunt for that exceptional find of good food, good pricing that will entice us out more often.
