More BBQ-flavored than actual barbecue.
I ordered the Family of Two meal for my husband’s birthday and expected better quality and portions, given the name of the restaurant and all. Instead, everything was bland and mediocre. The corn tasted overboiled and watery, the portions were small (2-3 tiny ribs per person, thin meat slices, a chicken thigh and leg), and the sides were disappointing—a toddler handful of dry, unseasoned crinkle fries that tasted microwaved, small flavorless baked potatoes, and what I presumed to be garlic bread minus flavor. Nothing tasted fresh. The only sides that were enjoyable were the coleslaw and beans, so 2 stars for getting the basics right.
You have a choice of 3 BBQ sauces-and tiny they are-and you each DO NOT get 3 in your meal of 2. You also are given not butter exactly, but tiny packets of butter-flavored “whipped spread.”
This was easily the most disappointing barbecue I’ve had and barely qualifies as barbecue.
Update: after eating I got severe stomach cramps but thought it may be something else that day. The next night I decided to finish off the left overs because I hate wasting food and got the cramps again. It wouldn’t suprise me at all if the food has been sitting out for hours before I picked up considering it was confirmed ready for pickup up within 15 minutes of ordering.
Home fries … great
Eggs … great
Biscuit … great
Fried apples … amazing
Cute glasses too.
There were a lot of flies around our food, and in the window next to where I was sitting so it was kinda uncomfortable, but it is what it is. I’ve heard lots of great things about this place so we tried it out, but it’s probably our last time going there.
This restaurant is a timestamp from the 80s. From the carpet to the wood panel walls and the old twangy country music. The way this place reminded me of every country backyard bbq I experienced as a child in the 80s was uncanny.
I would like to lunch here again. I’d like to know what time of day and day of week is best. I would hope this place had some more energy to it. It could be a very good time if it were packed.
I tried to get more photos to express the atmosphere, but the few number of people there were in there didn’t seem comfortable that I had been attempting to pan my phone around for photos. I did not want to be rude.
Fat Boy’s Bar-B-Q St Cloud has a loyal following. You will receive quick attentive service in a dining room that is not crowded or noisy.
The service we receive from Aaron is always personable. As a long time server, he remembers everyone’s face. Locals often request to be seated at one of his tables. Aaron has an upbeat personality, never without a smile, and is dedicated to his job. Old school customer service.
I ordered unsweet tea and the rib combo with sliced beef to go with it, slaw, baked beans, and Mac and cheese. I also got a side order of the okra to try. I enjoyed the tea and all sides. The meat was ok.
Overall, the style reminded me of the chain, Sonny’s barbecue. Not bad for a decent meal, but it was not my favorite.
