Updated: Thank you for such a great experience!! We were driving from Myrtle Beach to Virginia Beach, then to Long Island NY. Hopefully heading back that way next year and we will definitely go out of our way to get here again.
This is one of my definite fives across the board. We were on a long drive and decided it was time to eat, and Fat Baby’s had some decent reviews, so we stopped. I don’t think that i have ever had such an authentic southern experience in my life. The food selection was excellent! We all had the fried chicken. It was fantastic. I had mashed potatoes with gravy, and turnip greens for sides. Also hush puppies. The kids had Mac and cheese for their sides. It was absolutely delicious. I also had sweet tea, and lemonade to drink. I am particular about lemonade, and this was about as homemade as you can get. No aftertaste, no nonsense, just really great lemonade. We also bought desserts, I had the coconut cake. Very good.
The decor was very local and welcoming. The service was wonderful! Everyone was friendly, very Southern Hospitality.
The atmosphere was quaint. The restaurant was very clean, including the restrooms,
I could say more but if you’ve read my other reviews, you know that I recommend to anyone that is fortunate enough to stop here for this experience.

Real Southern home cooking! I have only eaten breakfast here and it’s fabulous. I always get the bowl with buttery grits, scrambled eggs and smoked sausage cut up bite sized with a grilled buttery biscuit and a coffee. Super good food, and really friendly staff. I can’t get over how good everything was. I got the tenderloin and rice. The tenderloin was so tenderloin. Definitely recommend stopping here to eat. They also serve lunch, and the lunch menu had so many different options. Will surely be going back soon.

This was awesome comfort southern home cooking. So many choices, tough to choose but I have a feeling it’s all good. I love seeing all the food ready and warm.We got 2 complete meals with drinks for $24. we were just driving through the town and found this gem, so glad we stopped. Wish it was closer to home.
