The Legend begins with beer…Busch beer to be exact. But this was just the beginning. In 1921 Anheuser Busch decided to open a drinking establishment in the picturesque river town of Alton IL. A yellow brick building known as Bon Air was constructed on the corner of three streets, 4th, Pearl, and Broadway. Approximately ten years later, Busch had to sell the tavern due to a change in the statutes, which prohibited breweries from owning drinking establishments. Sam Balaco and later his son Lotteo, owned and operated the Bon Air for 50 years. Then, in 1981 in a move that would change history forever, Eddie Sholar Sr. “Fast Eddie” purchased Bon Air. Things began to change- FAST!

My wife and I stopped by yesterday afternoon and had an amazing time. The food brought back memories of our first visit — just as good as we remembered! The atmosphere was lively and fun, and everything tasted great.
The popcorn is always a highlight for us and really adds to the experience. Fast Eddie’s continues to deliver on food, fun, and nostalgia every time we visit.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for good eats and a great time!

We had so much fun checking out this place! It’s been on our bucket list for a while, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The food was so good — you order at the counter and pick it up when it’s ready, which made everything super easy.
They even have free popcorn to snack on while you wait to eat! The whole place is big, loud, and full of energy… in the best way.
Such a fun experience — we’ll definitely be back!

I remember coming here when everything was $1. Prices aren’t that low anymore however they are still very reasonable. The the burgers are my absolute favorite! You get the nice smoking flavor and for the price of $5 it’s still I great deal. The atmosphere is always lively and fun. This is a great day trip or night out with a group.

Awesome spot to come hang with friends – tons of space, indoors and outdoors. Finding a bar tender was pretty easy considering how many people were there, they can really handle crowds well. To get food, there was one line that was insanely long.
The food was good, we got kebabs and fries along with our drinks. The drinks were basic but moderately priced. We sat both inside and outside, they had a band outside playing and the vibe was lively! A fun spot to come drink and hang out 🙂

Had a great time here with our friends for their birthday! Live band was great, plenty of seats and yummy food. The Elwood was my favorite! If you order food it’s going to be atleast a 20 minute wait, so take your ticket with you and go enjoy a drink or music while you wait. The outer part of the building had a sign showing what number they are serving so you can know when to go get your food. The waitresses were very attentive and always coming by to get drinks and such for you. Heaters in the outer area for when it’s cold like last night. All good things!

First time to Fast Eddie’s, so not familiar with how things are done. Ordering from a.counter is the first thing you have to do with pictures and prices on wall behind the grill. Not too many choices and all not very healthy. You pay for what you order there. Then drinks have to be ordered later when you choose where to sit. Then you pay for those separately with a waitress. It was lunch so we just wanted tea and lemonade. No refills. Have to pay to get more than one drink at aboutb$3 each so that was disappointing. Overall not great, but not outstanding for first time here.

This place is amazing! I got steak kabobs Big Elwood and the grilled chicken wings the Chick on at Stick, we’ll I’ve tried everything already but didn’t take pictures of everything else and I’ve already came back 4 times! The music and atmosphere is perfect. I highly recommend Fast Eddie’s.

This is one of the places you MUST go when you turn 21 if you live in the region. Almost everyone i know goes with their parents at least once on or after their bday because they’ve heard them talking about their own experiences for years! The menu is limited, only about 5 choices. We got steak on a stick (Big Elwood), a cheeseburger, fries, and peel and eat shrimp. Cheap prices, cold beer, full bar including frozen drinks, and they have live music every time I’ve been there. Live music schedule is on the website and the bands are really good. Lots of merch to commemorate your visit. Great place for party busses, and they will let you bring in a cake. No togo food and your ID will be checked at the door. It’s not fancy, so don’t dress up…lots of jeans, t-shirts, biker attire, etc. Great place to get the party started or have a Sunday Funday!

Fast daddy is always a popping spot anytime I get a chance to be in Alton love swinging in for a cold drink and a snack. The live music area is always full of patrons just enjoying the day.
