LOVE. When a Champaign classic closes its doors, when a small town loses it’s matriarch, you have to wonder why. In this case you find that she’s just changed castles. With that, Madi must be the princess. Obviously. She runs the show
As someone who passes through town almost weekly, I find the restaurant scene to be impressive yet finite. We walked in, obviously underdressed, (even though they told us we were just fine), and stumbled in on a delightful menu.
The ambience immediately caught our eye as formality set the scene. Local beef burgers slathered in saturated mushrooms, sandwiches, soup, salads all adorn to the menu yet the nightly special Twisted my tits, lol I had to. The cod was a beautiful four piece fried served well with Sauvignon Blanc.
My fiancé enjoyed the massive burger with an incredible Cabernet, Napa, of course. Throughout the winding cocktail selection, throughout the food being decided upon, we met some lovely characters. Sydney and Madi were truly two of a kind. The quality conversation that these women were kind enough to bestow on us made our evening.
If you haven’t been to the new location, go. If you’ve never been, like myself, what are you waiting for? Expect to buy the bottle. Expect to be surprised. Bon appétit we shall see you next week.

A very nice place for having meals, drinks, hanging out with friends and family. This new location looks upscale than the previous one. The menus looks the same. Maybe they have more drinks options, I guess. The food is very tasty as usual. There is nothing changed for the price. That’s good!!!. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is very nice and comfy. This is a good restaurant!!!

Tried the Italian beef, steak and cheese, and Santa Fe chicken—everything was solid. The food was flavorful and well-prepared, with portions that hit the spot.
The atmosphere is welcoming, with plenty of seating, making it great for groups or just hanging out. It’s in a super central location in Champaign, so it’s really convenient for students, faculty, and visiting parents. The staff were friendly and added to the positive experience.
Overall, a great spot! Definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the area.

The atmosphere was the only good thing about this place. Got a dry burger and bad service at the old location 10 years ago and swore I wouldn’t go back. Got talked into giving it a second chance in the new location. The only thing that changed was the address. Chicken sandwich was dry and tough, sweet tea wasn’t sweet. Chips tasted stale. Egg on wife’s burger was hard as rubber after the server assured her it would be over easy. Everything there is overcooked and over priced. $12 for fried pickle spears that equaled about three small dill pickles. $62 total for garbage. Lesson LEARNED! DINER BEWARE

New location is wonderful! Interior is beautiful, a welcome change from the old Maria. Gorgeous bar and different layout, little nooks and crannies.
Updated drink menu wonderful and service is usually good with attentive servers. Lost a bit of the friendly, local vibe so hopefully their teams starts to warm up more. Food flavors fall flat. Not what it used to be, which is hard to say – lacks flavor and freshness. Apps were average at best and the beef was ok, lacking flavor. Crabcakes are a nice smaller bite size but breading really dark and heavy oil taste. There was a holiday party as well that friends were at and they came over to say the food is not what it once was. Hope they can get it turned around! Location is gorgeous, fun and the staff really can be awesome.

Owner was amazin! Staff were amazing! Atmosphere was warm and welcoming! Food was good, l think, ground beef needs more quality taste wise, it needs some improvement, as we wanted to try cheeseburgers at dinning restaurant, instead of a fast food place. But I definitely recommend this place!

Gorgeous restaurant inside! A few negatives were that the kids menu didn’t offer a burger and it’s a burger place. My green chili burger was okay. Probably because of the high quality low fat beef it was dry. Our total bill for a kids meal, 6 inch Italian beef and fries, burger and fries, and cheese curds appetizer was about $75.

Our first time eating at Farren’s, but definitely not our last. My family and I all enjoyed our meals and cocktails from the bar. Dessert finished off a truly great experience. Our server, Hannah, was amazing…polite, friendly, and attentive. The vibe at Farren’s is awesome – comfortable, yet classy. Thank you for a very enjoyable lunch!

We were in the mood for good burgers for lunch and heard this place had the best. They did not disappoint. I had the spicy one with the ghost pepper cheese and it was great. My wife had one with mushrooms that looked very tasty. She enjoyed it a lot. Interestingly the table next to us came in and ordered the exact same burgers, so I think we may have made the right choice! My kid loved her chicken strips as well and the cheese curds were great. Awesome food experience.

This place was highly recommended to us so we had to give it a try. The burgers were amazing, had thick cut, crispy bacon. Also the house made truffle chips were spot on.
Aside from the food, we had a great experience because Hannah J(Also known as Hannah #1) provided us with top-notch service. She went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and was absolutely hilarious. We will definitely eat here again(as long as we get Hannah #1)
