Farmington Taphouse, by the looks, is just your average local bar but it’s what’s on the inside that gives me a reason to return.
My boyfriend brought me there over a year ago, it’s his local bar. They serve the usual bar foods you find in most bars and admittedly, their food is good. You have your several boxes of pull tabs, e-tabs but it’s the extras that make it worth spending time at.
You have your regular who have established friendships and play their version of cribbage in which several player participant and if you don’t meet the right amount of points? You get sent backwards on the board. Then there is horse races. An old plastic machine that’s about a foot or so long and makes for alots of competitive laughter.
The bartenders? Each with their own distinctive personalities are engaging, personable and always welcoming.
So, if you’re ever in town and want to relax, have a drink, play some tabs and enjoy a good time? Stop in and feel free to join in.

A hidden treasure. The fries are wonderful. The food was delicious. Everything came out well seasoned and at a great temperature. The menu is smaller, a sign for me that they are good at what they make. The waitress was so friendly and personable. She cleaned the highchair before bringing it to me. Food came out quickly.

UPDATED POST: We came here last night (2/20) to return for the steak. We arrived toward the end of the night, but we did call to clarify how late the kitchen was open prior to coming with respect to the staff. I was coming off of a 24 hour fast and looking forward to a high quality steak meal like I’ve had in the past here. I ordered a “medium” steak and it was served to me on a hot skillet and I removed it immediately because I could tell just by looking at it that it was way overcooked. I’m never the person to send food back to the kitchen, but I cut into it, took one bite and it was so overcooked that I couldn’t eat it. The server was very understanding and said that she’d have another one made for me. Take two: steak was delivered on a cold skillet and I don’t know that I would even consider it to be rare (see photo). I didn’t have to cut into it without knowing it was undercooked based on the firmness of it. I have never seen this cook before, nor will I probably ever order food here if it’s him cooking. I’m not sure if it’s because it was the end of the night and he simply wanted to go home or if he was making a statement after I returned the steak in the first place for being overcooked, but this is unacceptable. I came here wanting a high protein meal and ended up leaving after only eating a side salad and a few of my boyfriend’s tater tots. The server was very understanding and didn’t charge me for my meal. Props to the server for handling this well and apologizing for something out of her control. The cook on the other hand needs some guidance. I’m updating my review to 3 stars for the sake of the server. The server deserves 5 stars, but the cook deserves 1. We may consider returning here at some point, but it will be some time and I will not order if the same cook is working.

Friendly attentive staff. Didn’t order food just had a few drinks before a youth hockey game (safety meeting) lots of taps. The food I saw looked really good.

Placed a pick up order for dinner last week. I referred to a special that was and STILL is posted at the bottom of their menu on their website. It offers “COVID-19 SPECIALS Available EVERY Day.” My husband wanted the sirloin steak & potato option that includes a baked potato, bread, and coleslaw. When ordering over the phone, the server wasn’t sure about that special so she asked a manager. He told her that it was an old special and they couldn’t honor that. I respectfully responded that regardless if it’s an old offer, it’s still currently on their website and I’d like it to be honored. She put the manager on the phone. He repeated what he had told her to me and said that the special should have been taken off their website. I asked him what he had that was similar to that offer. He told me they had a sirloin & fry meal, but they no longer had baked potatoes. I was able to get him to honor the special, but with onion rings instead of fries. Initially annoyed, but now happy.
I pick up the order and it was empty except for a few people at the bar. I was happy to get in and out fairly quick. I get in the car and checked the order. Missing items. Had to go back inside since clearly the server didn’t check the order prior.
Get everything home about 5-10 min later. The steak was ordered medium rare. It was so terrible, my husband didn’t finish it. It has zero seasoning so he added some himself and still was terrible. The onion rings had a thick batter that he wasn’t a big fan of. The coleslaw tasted old. He ended up heating up some leftovers and threw the meal in the trash.
No intentions of supporting this local business anytime again soon. Super disappointed as we love to eat from our local, non chain restaurants.

We love what they’ve done with the restaurant that used to be known as Gossips. It’s great that they have both a full selection of interesting beers and the old stand-by Coors light as well. I love the decor. The wall covered with barrel bottoms labeled with the beers and ciders on tap is both playful and informative. I most appreciate that they have flights available not only of beers but also of wines and Bourbons. And the food has been really good. We were there last night for the Mexican special and loved the pulled pork burritos and chicken tacos. The food has been both delicious and a good value. It’s a very comforting place to be.

First, I want to say that the FOH is AMAZING & the service they provide is PHENOMENAL. Second, I understand that one person can ruin it for the bunch, as I too work in the restaurant industry. These factors aside, no customer should ever have to watch the cook prepare every plate in the house with UNGLOVED hands. This apparently is nothing new, as of recently, since reports of him repeatedly showing up for work heavily intoxicated have been ignored by management. Sad to watch one employee drag a company downhill, since everything else about the establishment was enjoyable.
