Super attentive and friendly staff. Food was pretty good and reasonably priced considering portion size. We ordered fried bacon mac n cheese balls for our appetizer, they were really good and huge! We both got the chicken fried steak, tasted pretty decent. Both got different sides, which all were great! (Cooked spinach, mashed potatoes, macaroni, & parmesean fries.) Overall is a great option to have other than Mexican food & fast food in La Vernia. Would definitely come back!

My mom and I had lunch. It wasnt too busy. I had the cheeseburger and we both thought it and the fries were great. My mom had the potato soup, which she didn’t care for. (She was expecting a thick consistency and bacon/cheese on top. There were bacon strips in the soup itself, but they were kind of boiled.) The waitress was nice. Overall happy. We will be back, to try other things. I look forward to coming for the music when the weather warms up.

First time visit, lovely experience.
Came for Sunday brunch, my review only encompasses that experience.
Party of three.

The restaurant is done in a rustic style, nothing fancy, good amount of parking. There is a large outdoor spread seating area and two inside seating areas. Upon stepping into the building, my party was greeted and seated right away. The table service was excellent and prompt. Waitress was polite, attentive and accurate with our order, answered questions with expertise and made us feel like a welcomed guest. The food was well plated and presented nicely, arrived on real plates with metal silverware, the portions were well sized.
Although the meal came quickly after ordering, the atmosphere was not rushed at all. It was comfortable, calm and relaxing.

French toast, pancakes ( not pictured) and breakfast burrito.
Each dish was excellent!

Small very charming restaurant. Out server Nancy was exceptional. The food was amazing. Fried zucchini was outstanding. Cheese burger and fries was good. But I would do a burger and fried zucchini if allowed, best I have ever had. The chicken strip basket with a Korean dipping sauce is also outstanding. For those of you who like a drink with your meal they offer a nice wine and beer list. Very impressed by this place and will be sure to go back often. Highly recommend. Oh one more thing to add get the Charro beans… Man are those good.

A new restaurant is always welcome in our small town. The staff was very friendly and attentive. My wife and I had breakfast there this morning. It was only the second time they were serving breakfast.

Our server was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The food came out quickly but my sides came separate after I reminded him. Not that big of a deal. We only had one napkin but paper towels were on the table. Agave, he was extremely friendly and attentive so a generous tip was given at the end.

I knocked down one star for food. My omelette was tasty. No complaints.

The bread came out but it was a tad on the cool side but it was toasted nicely and tasted good. I had to ask for butter which they brought out.

The bacon wasn’t full strips and broken. It tasted good but it was hard like jerky and not close to being hot. It was more cool than warm.

My wife’s biscuits and gravy were very salty. I don’t eat them but I tried the gravy and I agreed with her.

I brought these concerns up to the manager and she was very receptive. They even made a new batch of gravy and asked if she wanted another to which we politely declined.

Recommendations: Hot and thick cut bacon for sure! Less salt in the gravy. Definitely need hash browns on the menu! That’s a staple with breakfast!

We will definitely go back. Hoping this is taken as constructive criticism. Overall, very happy with this restaurant.

Glad I didn’t read the negative reviews before visiting — I’m rooting for this place to succeed because it’s so close to home. My favorite family restaurant of 20+ years closed suddenly, and I’ve been looking for a new local go-to. This could be it.

I came a little early during live music, but it wasn’t too busy. I’ve been waiting for things to settle before visiting, and I’m glad I did — they deserve a fair shot.

Food highlights:
• Brisket egg rolls were a hit with the whole family
• The salad bar is the real star — fresh, great ranch, and I love having the option of a side salad instead of just fried sides
• French fries were perfectly cooked, just a bit salty

Only suggestion: consider keeping ketchup on the table — or at least bring it automatically when there’s a kid or fries on the ticket.

I could easily see myself stopping in after work for a light dinner and a few beers. Cozy, convenient, and showing real promise.

It’s been 8 months, still rooting for this place but without brunch I’m not sure it’s gonna stay relevant.
I’m pretty sure you could run this place with 3 experienced wait staff. On a slow Friday night I think I counted 5? If you are slow to take the first drink order and the appetizer is too big, I’m not gonna reorder drinks. Why would I wait 20+ minutes to order a drink? The answer is I wouldn’t.

I have tried this place twice now and realllly wanted to like it, but the first meal was not great. It was a shrimp po-boy, which is off the menu as of now, but it was so basic, nothing extra. Fried shrimp on bread. Today, I went for a basic cheese burger and while I should have specified “well done” it was really, really rare. Had them take it back and it came back in a couple of minutes, still super rare. Fries were great, but I am not eating a super rare burger patty. I took it home to cook it and even tossed the cheese and re-heated the bun and pickles due to the raw meat. Once it was cooked to a light pink, it was great, but I am not into going out to eat and still cooking it at home for safety reasons. Not sure I will be back and I am big on supporting local business.

Had lunch here today. Nice place, lots of flys however. Bacon. Cheeseburger was good. The bun could have been toasted. Little. The fries were cold and soggy when they came out. The waitress had no personality. Could barely understand what she was saying. She acted as if she didnt want to be there, almost as if someone made her get a job. Not just our table but I witnessed the same for the table behind us.

The menu has lots of fried choices if you don’t mind clogging your arteries. I had an excellent grilled red fish with mashed potatoes and spinach and my wife had chopped steak with baked potato and the salad bar. The portions are large and tasty. The service was prompt and very friendly. Some of the metal chairs moving over the concrete floor make a horrible noise. We are very thankful they are here.

Will likely update this review soon. They opened recently and are trying very hard to do well but have a steep hill to climb. The fried foods looked good. I tried the ribeye and it was terrible. They recooked it and it was juicy but had a strange flavor. Sides were okay. Salad bar had lots of flies.
Again. Growing pains and ill update as they evolve.
