When we arrived, we were told there would be about a 30-minute wait, but it ended up being closer to 15 minutes, which was a nice surprise. The ambiance and décor were beautiful—very cute, cozy, hometown vibes.
While waiting for our server, we looked over the menu. There were tons of unique items—definitely different from what you normally see. Even though I thought I wanted brunch, I ended up going with the beef dip, while my wife ordered the burger of the month. She also chose the goat cheese hot honey as an appetizer.
When the appetizer arrived, I wasn’t sure I’d like it, but it turned out to be surprisingly delicious, especially paired with the crostini.
My beef dip came with seasoned brisket that was incredibly tender. Some of the brisket juices soaked into the fries, giving them an extra layer of flavor. The au jus was perfectly balanced and didn’t overpower the brisket.
My wife really enjoyed her burger. Her only minor complaint was that the fries were mostly short pieces instead of longer cuts, but they were still crispy, hand-cut fries.
Overall, this is a solid spot, and if I’m back in Knoxville, I’d definitely return.
All in all, highly recommend. We’ll definitely be back!
Items ordered: Mimosa Flight, Beignets, Shawarmacy Chicken, Biscuits and Gravy, Rise ‘n’ Shine, and several Churro Waffles.
I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The gravy arrived lukewarm, and the biscuits tasted strongly of raw flour. One of them was so tough I actually had to work at it with my knife—never a great sign. The chicken itself was tender enough to cut with a fork, but the biscuit beneath it was bland and dense. The “candy bacon” turned out to be more like crystallized sugar than bacon—just sweet crumbs that made the whole dish even sweeter. I mentioned to the server after the first bite that it was overly sweet, and she simply acknowledged it and moved on. The dish really needed seasoning and balance.
My husband ordered the Brekkie with brisket, and he said it tasted more like pot roast from a crock pot than smoked brisket. No smoke, no seasoning, just a very earthy, monotone flavor profile. The whole dish was one, boring palate.
The restaurant itself is charming, and our server was friendly, but her attention was almost entirely on the large table beside us. We didn’t get drink refills, and she didn’t check back in after the initial drop-off. The food also took about 30 minutes to arrive, so even though we were disappointed, we didn’t say anything—we didn’t want to wait another half hour.
We might give it another try someday, but breakfast won’t be what we order if we do.
With all the glowing recommendations we heard, it was disappointing to walk away feeling like the experience was barely average.
We began with Vietnamese coffee and beignets. While the frozen version on the menu wasn’t available, I didn’t mind since Vietnamese coffee is typically served iced. The beignets leaned a bit sweet, but the raspberry smear paired well and balanced them nicely.
For entrées, everything was well-prepared: my eggs were cooked thoroughly as requested, the arugula was fresh and crisp, and the sweet potato hash was flavorful. The waffles were excellent — my son especially enjoyed the banana pudding served alongside them. The chilled salmon salad with lemon and artichoke was also a refreshing highlight that we all shared.
To finish, we tried the Dubai chocolate-inspired dessert. It was good overall, though my table had mixed opinions — positive but not the standout dish of the meal.
The only drawback was the atmosphere near our table: several younger staff members gathered at the front and were chatting loudly, which became a distraction.
Overall, we had a great experience with attentive service, thoughtfully prepared dishes, and unique menu options. Despite the minor noise issue, I will happily return.
Our server was nice but just kept missing the mark. He didn’t seem to know the menu and seemed scared to go ask. We would have rather he asked instead of making up answers for us which is what it seemed like was happening, since his answers kept changing. I felt bad for even asking at that point. Then we asked for the check and he disappeared and was nowhere to be found. I ended up finding someone else to close out my check because we had to go.
So many staff members walked past the dirty tables outside and not one even tried to clear them on their way back in. (Ever heard of “full hands in, full hands out”?)
Before we left, We watched the hostess seat a table next to the heat lamp, forcing one of the guests being seated to squeeze past it in order to sit down. It was awkward and embarrassing when there were empty tables abundant. The person made such a face once they got through and sat down. I am sure the guests wouldn’t have minded waiting for the tables to be cleared and cleaned to avoid tripping over the heat lamp to sit. Then another guest was about to be seated outside and the hostess expected this poor older woman to squeeze past the heat lamp again. Hostess was so confused when the woman refused to do so. Then she almost asked my sister to move out of her seat to make room for this woman to get through. I asked why they couldn’t wipe one of the empty tables for the woman and the hostess looked so confused by this. I just don’t understand where the disconnect is. I truly hope this establishment can train their staff better or maybe give them a crash course in common sense. Not sure i will be back, even though we loved the food both times. It took forever for everything and I was so stressed seeing the staff drop the ball over and over again.
(Pics are the unbussed tables when we were leaving. Literally the entire inside and outside of the place was fully unbussed and dirty, it was wild!!)
