Faria: a Pasifika Portuguese Restaurant

Social Profile:

At its most concrete, Faria is a premium-casual restaurant that specializes in Portuguese cuisine, wine and spirits. Faria’s menu is a collection of very classic, traditional Portuguese recipes, as well as dishes that reflect the Portuguese immigrant experience in the Hawaiian Islands. Philosophically, Faria is the celebration of our collective years of eating around our own tables from the bounty of our Portuguese families — which are no longer just Portuguese. We are also Hawaiian, Chinese, Japanese and American. Our food reflects what it means to be Portuguese in Hawaii.

Let me first start off by saying the food here is delicious. A lot of it is finger food, at least the dishes we ordered. My favorite was these chicken wings that were a little bit spicy. all the food had some sort of dip or spread, they were all very good.

The best part of the meal was definitely the dessert. The rum cake was light, and the gingerbread cookies had a molasses taste to them and an amazing crunch of sugar on top.

the service was top notch too! it was very quick and the waiters were so personable.

I can imagine it would be hard to find parking, as there are only three stalls out front and one of them is handicap.

This is an exquisite experience. Took my bestie for her birthday and the ambience was cozy, sheik and nostalgic. The food phenomenal and a great variety of traditional and modern dishes to choose from. The service was the top from host to chef everyone was so welcoming and made you feel like you are family. Book early cause the place was packed til closing and heard it’s hard to get reservations. I lucked out!

I felt like I stepped into a quinta in Portugal when I came through the cork clad door of Faria. The decor is quaint, thoughtful, and perfectly Portuguese, with authentic Fado music playing gently in the background. Every dish was extremely flavorful, and I was excited to see that they have some Portuguese wine options, as well as even home made ginjinha which was delicious. This is an absolute must visit, and a great addition to the dining options in Kailua!

Wow! What an incredible dining experience. The friendly service, beautiful ambience, and delicious food all exceeded my expectations. We went for date night to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and were surprised with 2 delicious glasses of wine. The restaurant is family owned and operated, and multiple of the Faria family members introduced themselves and wished us a happy anniversary. Eating at Faria really feels like you were invited to the family home in Portugal and they’re serving you what they would eat.

We had the sardine skillet appetizer, the pot roast, and the fisherman’s stew – everything was so delicious and flavorful. This is my new favorite restaurant in all of Hawaii, and one of the best I’ve been to in the world! The prices were quite reasonable for the amount of food and quality of service that you get as well.

We ordered the pistachio rum cake for dessert and the flavor was great, but it was too sweet for our liking, so we only had a few bites. We planned to pay for it, but they kindly took the charge off our bill without us even asking. I super highly recommend this restaurant!

Faria is a pleasureful spot to have a meal. The decor is very homie, and the staff if exceptionally friendly. Combine that with great food and you have a recipe for success. I really enjoyed everything about our meal and suspect that you will as well.

I don’t quite get the hype of this place and why it’s a tough reservation to get. Don’t get me wrong, it’s solid, but I believe I had to make a reservation one month out.

We had the croquettes, sardines, garlic pork, seafood stew, and a bottle of wine. Price was good for Hawaii. Croquettes were very flavorful and had nice texture. Was disappointed by the sardines. They tasted like they were out of a can, but dressed up with fresh sauce and vegetables. Pork and stew were decent but I’d get something else next time.

Had a magnificent night here splurging on a dinner date! First off, I cannot stress how excellent the staff were. They were so generous as to help us change to an earlier reservation day-of to accommodate us being so early. They were very sweet checking in on us and gave good recommendations too. I wanted to try everything but I restrained myself (somewhat) and we really enjoyed most everything we got! Particular standouts were the shrimp dual sauce pasta, flaming sausage, savory shrimp pastries, bean soup and cheesecake. The interior is very charmingly decorated and, which they do note on their reservation system, they keep the space very cold with AC so bring a light jacket if you need.

Cozy, family place. Enjoyed the ambiance and the restaurant decor. Nice touch of light shoulder bkankets on the chairs in case you felt chilled. Probably seats less than 100 people. Menu consists of family recipes. We loved everything we ordered. Nice portion size for the price. We want to go back and try more including the desserts! Only drawback was no vegan options. The owners, staff were delightful. There is metered parking behind the building. We parked across the street in the library parking lot which is free (library was closed). Reservations recommended, we got lucky as a walk-in that they had a cancelation and could seat us.

This well designed restaurant needs a reservation if you plan to eat here. Certain chairs are not very comfortable but the ambience is great. The servers are all very friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks are decent but the apps are where it is at. Highly recommend the sardines. Parking is available out front or across the street at the park.

Excellent dining, with fantastic baked goods and tasteful dinners. Lovely drinks, great service it’s just the full package !!!! We got excellent service from Sheldon who made our experience even better. Food on Oahu is usually great but Faria is in a league of its own. There’s a little bit of parking right in front and a fair amount of parking nearby. The restroom is a nice touch with nice little amenities, and it’s decorated super nice. Clean and well decorated – it’s a vibe!
I will definitely return every time I visit.
