We went to Fandango for dinner on Christmas Day. They had a prix fixe menu of $155 per person consisting of choices of an appetizer, salad, entree and dessert. We were not so hungry and asked if we could share but that was not allowed. So, we ended up ordering 3 prix fixe meals for our party. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was good but not outstanding. Since this was the only place open on Christmas, we left satisfied to be able to have a meal for the occasion in a cozy setting.

We chose this restaurant because it had a good rating and enough reviews. It presents itself as somewhat pretentious. Inside, the atmosphere and coziness look nice. The service itself is organized well.

But for this kind of pretentious presentation, the plates and silverware were not polished, with residue from dried water.

I ordered duck medium-well, they brought it medium rare. The manager clearly noticed my surprise and offered to cook it more. I think that was a bad idea. The duck tasted as if it had been reheated on the second day. On top of that, it was completely drowned in a sauce that ruined the flavor. The side dish was obviously frozen, packaged vegetables and mashed potatoes with cheese. All of this together created a horrible composition. And even separately, everything tasted bad.

My wife simply refused to say or write anything about the osso buco she ordered.

What I liked: the bread was good, the olives were good, the orange in the duck they still managed to ruin. The service was good and friendly.

What I didn’t like: unpolished silverware with hard-water marks.
Bottled beer only.
I would fire the person who created the menu. The duck was simply terrible both individually and overall.
And to the one who cooked it, I would suggest making burritos — that would probably turn out better.

Overall, good marketing, a pretty wrapper, and bad content. They spent money on marketing but didn’t have enough left for a good chef and a kitchen team.

After that, we went to the brewery next door and had an excellent pizza from a real Italian oven, with good — not bottled — beer. All at a price three times cheaper.

Hard to beat the warm ambiance at this sweet little Spanish spot in Pacific Grove. Entrees are great, service is superb. It’s a tucked away treasure, where they gift you Madeira for dessert.

We enjoyed our dinner here. The food was pretty good (perhaps not quite amazing), service was friendly while a bit slow (more on this later). Interesting old building added to the overall atmosphere. I struggled to decide between 4 and 5 stars and settled on 4 after they gave me my port several minutes after my wife got a desert – soufflé (so as you can imagine there was no soufflé left at that point). Perhaps a minor issue for some people, but it gave me confidence in my 4 star rating. I’d still recommend to visit and we’ll likely come again. Oh, good wine selection also.

We have been here several times through the years when we visit Pacific Grove. We live in MD but lived here many years ago. Our dinner tonight was in celebration of our 53rd anniversary and it was perfect! Jorge was our waiter and he took such great care of us and surprised us with an amazing dessert! Our Surf and Turf dinner was delicious and the whole evening was a great celebration for us. Highly recommend Fandango for your dining pleasure.

I usually don’t rate any restaurant but I had such an amazing dinner here with my boyfriend for his birthday I just had to leave a rating. We were taken such good care of and I thought the food was delicious. Well worth it if you are hungry and ready to eat good!

This was the perfect spot for dinner and just a short walk from my hotel. The restaurant was bustling for a weeknight, but I was seated right away. Despite how busy it was, the staff was incredibly attentive.

My beet salad and calamari were fantastic, and even though I was already full, my server graciously offered me a free dessert to make up for a small order mix-up, which was quickly corrected.

This lovely restaurant is a must for Italian food lovers, and I’d happily return!

The restaurant looks very rundown from outside but once inside, it’s a nice place. The food is good and the service is exceptional. The best part is that they have Soufflé and that’s hard to find in Monterey area.

Probably one of the best restaurants! Finally the place where you can enjoy the taste and flavor of ingredients, not only spices and salt!!!!
Chef, team, you are doing great job, thank you very much!

I don’t give out a lot of five star ratings, but Fandango deserves it. We’ve been coming here for many years and last night was fantastic! Miguel, the manager, is really nice and he seated us at our usual table for two next to the window. Our server Angel was outstanding and funny. He’s very attentive and knows what he’s doing. The food was absolutely delicious! We started with Caprese, followed by Fresh Scallops (forgot to take picture) and the Abalone special. For dessert, we had the Souffle Grand-Marnier. If you’ve never eaten here, you should try it. We’ll be back!
