I really enjoyed my visit to Fancy Hanks in Melbourne. From the moment I walked in, the place had a fun, vibrant energy, with colourful décor and a relaxed atmosphere that made it easy to settle in and enjoy the night. It felt like the kind of spot that works just as well for a casual dinner as it does for drinks with friends.
The food was creative and full of flavour, with dishes that were well presented and ideal for sharing. The drinks were just as impressive, with a great range of cocktails, wines, and beers to choose from. What stood out most, though, was the friendly and attentive staff, who were welcoming and helpful without being overbearing. Overall, Fancy Hanks delivered a memorable experience and is definitely somewhere I’d happily return to.

Absolutely loved it!

I’ve been wanting to go for ages and I wasn’t disappointed.

The food was fantastic. I have wanted a blooming onion for so long and it was sensational. The wings were also so good, perfect taste, crisp, juicy, tender, and saucy. Then the brisket was so juicy and tender. It melted in my mouth. Finally the pork ribs were meaty, and came off the bone beautifully, if anything a little extra sauce while cooking would have been another level, but it was still great.

The staff were welcoming, quick, and helpful.

Overall definitely worth 5 stars.

The best part were the staff – they were all so friendly! The food was so good, great value for money. We got the platter for 4 – everything was amazing but my favourites were the buffalo wings, cornbread and pulled pork. The sauces are all so tasty too. Thanks for making my birthday extra special 🙂

It was a real pleasure to enjoy something absolutely delicious here, beef brisket and pork belly. For the first time in Australia, we looked for places that would remain in our minds and hearts! And yes, the taste of the dishes here is incredible! The combination of flavors is perfect! We also chose the potato smash, beans and kimchi cucumber. We thank the chef and the entire staff for their kindness and professionalism! Our journey continues! God bless you all!

We came for dinner as a group of three and ordered the For Two platter, which lets you choose 4 meats and 3 sides—more than enough food to share. Everything was great, but the beef ribs were the clear standout. They were incredibly tender, and packed with rich, smoky flavor that tasted slow-cooked to perfection. We’d definitely come back just for those again!

Finding good BBQ (not the overly sweet sauced faux stuff) in Australia is almost impossible. Fancy Hank’s is an exception. The pork ribs are just the righr mix of firm and fall of the bone tender… bit… omg… the beef ribs. Some of the best I have eaten in years, including in the USA. Melt in mouth perfection. The sides are generious, qoth the brisket beans being a meal all on the own. So. Five stars for the food.

We bought the platter for four. It was very tasty and the meat was extremely tender. The brisket was the highlight. I really enjoyed the corn ribs. I found it a little bit pricey for the portions of meat that they gave you.

Polite staff, flavourful environment and stunning food. One of the best American style BBQ, I would say. The portion for 4 people platter are suitable for 2 very hungry men and 1 small stomach friend.
Do make sure order the cucumber pickle as it will elevate your meal.

Was seriously looking forward to dining here and it looked promising from our arrival, made to feel welcome and straight to our window seat. A few minutes later Sara arrived took our drinks order and made us feel like we were ready for a good night. Now we did the platter for 2, now they hype this up I wouldn’t do it again! What worked the corn ribs and chicken wings were fantastic served hot and the taste was amazing! This set the stage for high expectations. Now what I didn’t say earlier was that within a few minutes of sitting at our table I needed to put my jacket on as the air con was so cold I was shivering (this is important) our platter came out now we did pulled pork, brisket, pork and beef ribs! Now you get about 400g of meat now this is another reason don’t do the platter the pulled pork was lovely, one beef rib which fell off the bone was good but by the time we finished the pulled pork the rest of the meat had cooled significantly. The pork ribs (x4) tough and not a lot of flavour the brisket was ok not a lot of juice and again if the meat had stayed hot maybe the rating would have been different. Now the sides fries good while hot, coleslaw was just shredded cabbage, the mac n cheese was bland, pickled onion was lovely, the potato was nice and if the meat was juicy and hot would have taken it to the next level. The platter comes with the two fancy Hank sauces, I’d say not the best sauces in the range. I feel having double the pulled pork and no pork ribs would have been a better use of the 400grams of meat. If you do the platter don’t think you’ll get an equal amount of meat per choice.
Would I go again, probs not would I recommend it…. I’d say don’t sit near the windows the air con is so cold that even the best meal in the world would be blah after 2min sitting on the table, ask to sit in the middle of the restaurant, get the corn ribs and the chicken wings and choose the protein you want and a side. I guarantee you’ll get a better result. We spent $202 for the platter and 2 wines and 2 beers. Our second drinks didn’t arrive until after we finished eating and let’s say there was a fair amount of the meat still left as it had gone cold
