Fancy bagels has been my go to place for the last decade or more! They consistently have great service, great prices, and great food! The bagels are fresh made daily and the staff is ALWAYS happy to see me when I enter the establishment! It’s not often you walk in an establishment and they know your name anymore or better yet what you order regularly. Most people will complain about a small wait and prices increases but, those things are just part of business. Be patient with the staff as everything is made to order, not some ultra processed egg disk that gets microwaved for 15 seconds and slapped on some bagel that was made 7 days ago and shipped to one of 6 locations in 10 square miles… Fancy represents small local business, great customer service/interaction and fresh made food. You won’t be disappointed if you understand small local businesses be patient and come hungry!

Quite literally the worst of the locations. I live five minutes away and still go out of my way to the Southington Express location instead.
They shut their phones off at 10 a.m. on weekends, consistently have an attitude, and on multiple occasions have told us mid-day that they’re “out of bagels.” If you’re open, there’s no reason customers should be getting an endless busy tone.
The other locations would never tolerate this level of service. It’s honestly impressive how consistently poor the experience is here.

Major issues with this staff. The manager Rosie is here and allowing the girls to walk from the back to the front of the store with gloves on while preparing our sandwiches. She literally allows the girls to not tie their hair back so the hair is flowing over the bagels and salad mix on the counter. Also allowing them to eat on the floor right where the bagels are sitting in the case she was eating bacon. Vegetarians like myself do not want to see bacon next to my bagel or to say the least you are cooking other people’s food that you just ate next to. They should be changing their gloves way more often and we watched the one making our food take the slab of frozen meat right from the cooler and place it on the grill then with the same gloves on go directly to the fridge under the counter and take out other ingredients for our hot sandwiches. All of this without changing gloves one time is horrendous. Also pulling up her sleeve. Other than all of this stuff about proper food handling and sanitary issues the health inspector would have a field day with the food is good. The prices are awesome for the food portions you get. Plus no bathroom .. thought CT law states where there is prepared food there has to be a public restroom for customers. But who knows. Great food tastes great just needs to have better service and understanding of public health.

I rarely leave reviews. I’ve been a customer for about 20 years. This place has changed a lot especially in the last year. The food is not how I remember it. The cheese now has a weird consistency and my orders have been messed up on several occasions including this weekend. I asked for tuna on a bagel with just lettuce on it. They gave me tuna with American cheese and no lettuce. I’m not sure how that can be messed up considering there was only one other person waiting for their food and half the staff was standing around. I hope they can make some changes because I used to absolutely love this place.

I never leave reviews but when u have the best bagel in the state u gotta tell people! I’ve been a chef for 20yrs and I’m a big guy who loves food but is particular. We drove an hour to get here and I loved everything about this place. Upon entering it smelled amazing and we were greeted by Sara(seen in the picture) who was sweet as pie! She was very personable and helpful. We ordered a dozen bagels and got 6 different kinds. Everything, onion, poppy, cinnamon raisin, rye and salt. They only had 1 rye and we ate that while we waited and it was just perfect. Great husk on the outside with an awesome chew just the right amount of moisture. They are consistent size and I believe these are boiled then baked (the right way to do it)to get that perfect combination. All of the bagels are LOADED with toppings that are set on there really well. The everything bagel was garlicky and the more you chew it the more the salt comes through and makes everything pop. The salt, poppy and onion bagels were equally awesome. The cinnamon raisin had lots of raisins and a great amount of cinnamon. I did not toast or put anything on them! Just as is! They do also have a cool menu with some intriguing combinations that I’m going to definitely try next time. We can’t wait come back. Great job folks!

First off, they don’t answer their phone so forget about placing a phone in order. No, they weren’t busy, it was 1pm when I attempted & there was no one in the store when I walked in. Customer service is non-existent, everyone at this location seems to hate their job. Also, a bagel with cream cheese is now $6.17 – per the menu, cream cheese is now $5 which is incredibly insulting considering I’m not sure where the $5 worth of cream cheese is but it is definitely not on my bagel. I’m glad the bagel was semi warm but it being toasted as I had ordered would have been nice. I’ve been a customer for a long time but this recent visit was my last straw and I have a feeling I am not the only one.

Nothing special I found in this shop. I had pumpernickel with jalapeno cream cheese and did not like it. Jalapeno cream cheese was sour and felt stale. Pumpernickel was not pumpernickel at all, felt like normal bagel. For that $6.25, total waste of money.

We stopped in to try them as we are new to the area. However when we walked in it was like we entered a daycare. They had a handful of staff chasing each other around. Not one stopped to see what we would like. This was at 1pm on a Sunday, with a couple of customers at tables eating. One young girl ran out of the back yelling that another was going to beat her up, as she ran behind another coworker lifting her up to put her in-between herself and the other that she was rough housing with. At that point we had been looking at the menu and tried to let the staff know we wanted to order although I am not sure if they could care about anything other than laughing and yelling with their coworkers. So after about 5 min without a greeting, or a how can I help you, I looked at my partner and stated I can not deal with the yelling, he agreed and we left. It is a shame that the staff seems to be the downfall of this establishment.
