I want to warn others about my experience with Famous Wok inside Northwoods Mall in Peoria, IL.
I ate there yesterday and shortly afterward became extremely ill. My symptoms became so severe that I had to go to the hospital, where I am currently being treated for severe food poisoning.
I attempted to contact the restaurant to inform them about what happened and to discuss the situation, but they have refused to speak with me or address the issue at all. That level of disregard for a customer’s health and safety is extremely concerning.
Food safety should be taken seriously, and when a customer reports getting sick, the restaurant should at least respond and investigate. Instead, I’ve been ignored while dealing with a serious medical situation.
I strongly encourage the management to address this issue and take food safety more seriously so this doesn’t happen to someone else.

Famous Wok has the best orange chicken in Illinois
But before I buy the orange chicken, I make sure I get my favorite side, rice.
The orange chicken and rice have the perfect seasoning and sauce in Illinois.
It’s not just about the food, it’s also about the experience, and they truly succeed.
When my amazing experience ends, I know the only thing that can get me out is bringing some home.

I have tried just about every item they offer. My favorite things to order are the Spicy Chicken, Vegetables and Chicken Egg Rolls! Great selection and service! It usually costs me between $12 – $16.

The service was nice, the cashier was really friendly & full of laughs, but the food was mid. Sorry.
The Orange chicken didn’t taste like chicken…
The meat tasted weird, but I didn’t want to waste my money, so I finished my plate. Would I eat there again? Probably not

Stopped for lunch. The food was decent, not the best but it was aight. Unfortunately the spicy chicken was not spicy, it was also kinda bland. The bourbon chicken was good tho and the beef and broccoli was what I expected. These have got to be the saddest noodles I’ve ever tasted tho….

10/10 recommend. I went to them when I was around a teen into my early twenties. Food was good then, they fell off at times, but I wanted to give them another chance because the other food places in the mall either aren’t open or they cost too much. In total, I’ve been 3 times in 2 weeks. Bourbon chicken stays consistent, rice is as good as it was in the early 2000’s. Never had their Crab Rangoon and it was fresh and tasty. I’m going back of course, lol. Also, the lady, I believe she is the owner, is very nice.

My go to for Chinese food. Orange chicken is never dry , hard, or overcooked, egg rolls are great and rice is good. You get a large amount of food for cheap and service is quick and friendly.

I’ve been a customer for years. Yes prices have went up. Always disappointing. Unfortunately that’s everywhere since January 2020 when a certain someone stepped foot in the White House the Economy tanked. The food is Great 90% of days. Yes sometimes it’s not cooked the same from the day before. I get the rice and Usually it’s great and one out of 10 times it’s to dry or not cooked all the way. Why I gave it 4 stars. Employees always friendly and give nice portions. It’s still a place to eat that is good fast price is still within reason if you get no drink. You can sit down to eat in the food court or get a nice container to go.

Bourbon Chicken amazing…Mushroom Chicken excellent…egg rolls good but the thing that kept them from five stars was the sweet and sour sauce lacked a rich flavor…overall well worth going…
