HOUSE BEAUTY
I’ve been a regular customer here and have always been happy with my orders, especially the cheesesteaks. They usually serve a generous portion that fills the 6” bun perfectly. However, this last time, the portion of meat was noticeably smaller than usual, and the sandwich felt underwhelming for the price of $20.63. It seemed like they were running out of meat and trying to stretch it out.

I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager, explaining what happened. I was hoping they would offer to remake my sandwich, but instead, they offered a refund. While I appreciate the offer, I would have preferred to enjoy the meal I paid for rather than just getting my money back.

Good customer service means ensuring customers are satisfied with their meals, not just giving them a refund. I hope the restaurant addresses this issue and ensures a consistent experience moving forward.

Famous Phil’s is a disgrace, and the fact that they attach Boston’s name to this operation is insulting.

I’ve been searching for a sub shop in Florida on par with real East Coast sub shops for the past year, and this was a major disappointment.

The moment you walk in, you’re hit with cigarette smoke. Heavy, stale, unmistakable smoke inside a space where food is being prepared. Not outside. Not earlier. Inside. The only people sitting in the restaurant were the woman taking orders and another woman who had to have just finished off a pack of cigs and didn’t feel like going outside. There is no real seating for customers anyway. It’s just a tiny, filthy shoebox pretending to be a restaurant.

I ordered mushrooms on my sub and watched them get dumped straight out of a can in front of me. No effort to heat them properly, no attempt to hide it, no pride in the product. The grill itself was coated in thick black buildup that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. Anyone with basic food safety knowledge would be alarmed.

They then seasoned the sub. That might sound harmless until you see the giant sign out front claiming “Boston style.” I’m from Boston. We do not do that. Don’t hijack a city’s food culture if you don’t respect the fundamentals. This isn’t a creative twist, it’s ignorance.

To top it off, I paid around $23. That’s an insane price for a sub served with filth and a side of fresh cigarette smoke.

I’ll give exactly one point of credit. The beef itself was legitimate, the same kind used in real Boston sub shops, not the processed garbage pushed by places like Charley’s and other local chains. That single ingredient is the only thing preventing this from being a one-star review.

I will never return. This place gives Boston a bad name and frankly should not be operating in its current condition. At minimum, it needs an immediate inspection by the health department. Boston deserves better than this, and so does Fort Lauderdale.

I must say my recent visit to Famous Phil’s subs shop exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in I could tell that this family run business was legit. In business for 60+ years, they really do pay close attention to quality. I ordered the steak bomb sandwich and it had plenty of flavor, steak was cooked perfect. Portions were large / enough to eat half and save half for later. One of the best cheesesteaks around and that’s not a compliment I toss around lightly. Will def be back.

I walked by a couple of times thinking it was a pizza place, but I was wrong and I did walk in and it wasn’t a mistake. I suggest if you’re hungry and you want real good food made by very good people, go there.

I absolutely love Famous Phil’s and have since back when they were Fat Freddie’s! My go-to is the cheese steak with peppers and onions, and their delicious relishy hot sauce on the side. Its so good and different from all other Phillys. In an amazing way! Don’t forget to get your loyalty card!!

Went in and was surprised was even open. No prices except for 10.85 at the bottom next to the chicken sandwich. Ordered three subs 2 Philly cheese steaks and a chicken sandwich. When told $67, I was so shocked and wasn’t sure if I heard heard her right, so I asked her to repeat and she said the same.
No drinks or side and the chicken sandwich was chicken lettuce and tomato $19 even though on the menu it showed a price of $10.85 next to it, but she said no prices are up there. Plus it was a hole I. The wall, dirty and honestly made me uncomfortable to be ordering there in the first place, so that was my sign to leave.
Went to Miami subs and according to the rest of the reviews I made the right choice. WOW!! How this place is still open no idea.

It was my first time walking into what I thought was a family run business. I expressed to them that it was my first time there and asked what was the most popular order. They told me it was the Philly cheesecake sandwich so that was what I ordered. The lady began to talk me up to distract me from the price. They rang me up for a regular Philly cheesesteak at $20. Listen, they charged me $20 for a takeout sandwich. It is a run down hole in the wall spot. But they charged me a sit down dining price. They gave me a decent amount of beef but not $20 worth. The sandwich tasted like nothing. Barely any seasonings it was like eating air. I am very disappointed that a business would try to do this to a first time customer. I assume they don’t care about loyalty or repeat customers. I could have gotten that same sandwich (much better tasting) at Jersey Mike’s down the street for much less but wanted to support a small business. Never again! Do better.

The BEST philly subs in town hands down. Do not let the outside fool you, they are my favorite food stop when I visit south Florida.

Grew up ordering from Fat Freddie’s and went to Famous Phil’s for a sub. I’m sorry, what? Italian sub is $18? No thanks. Ridiculous prices!!! Ask before you order. No prices are listed on the menu board. Now I know why.
