This is my favorite place for roast duck, roast pork, and cha siu. The flavors here are spot on! The roast duck is always so juicy and tender. The skin on the roast pork is always super crunchy, with just the right amount of fattiness underneath. And when you get a good piece of cha siu that melts in your mouth, it’s heaven. Pair with white rice for the ultimate comfort meal.

Seating inside is small, but they’re a very good option for takeout. Eat the roast pork immediately though for the maximum crunch.

Faves: roast duck, roast pork, cha siu

I read some positive feedback about Famous Kitchen in the past. While I was in Issaquah, I decided to dine there. The place looked new-ish in a small plaza; several other restaurants are within sight. I yelp-checked every single one of them. All of them hover at about 3.5 stars, plus/minus some. Hmmm. Anyway, I kept the original plans and entered. They have a Chinese BBQ area that was being cleaned for the night, which makes sense. It was nearly 7pm on a Sunday. The menu had mostly ordinary Cantonese varieties with several less common ingredients like fermented bean curd, salted fish, and bitter melon. Always a good sign. When I fished recommendations from the server requesting good ‘uncommon’ dishes (and I spoke in Cantonese), he still pointed to the ‘normal’ dish. Fine, I stayed along those lines, too. The food is alright. The prices are at Eastside level. This place is worthy if you don’t want to drive out of Issaquah (to Bellevue or CID). If I wasn’t in Issaquah, I would not purposely drive here.

The Food:
Curry Beef Brisket Rice 咖喱牛腩饭, $17.99 – 3.5 Stars
Tender-enough beef brisket and daikon cover a massive amount of rice. The curry is thick and pooled just right. The flavor of the curry met expectations. I wish Chinese restaurants understand it is okay to give an appropriate amount of rice instead of a massive amount to avoid waste.

House Special Fried Noodle 招牌炒面/粉, $20.99 – 3.5 Stars
This noodle dish surprised me that it is closer to ‘soy sauce king chow mein’ 豉油皇炒麵 that happens to have additional ingredients. Few restaurants serve it this way. Not a good or bad thing per se. The ingredients tend to heavily absorb the soy sauce, and the flavor profile becomes a bit too uniform. On the contrary, some may find this method more flavorful.

Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings 脆皮炸鸡翅, $18.99 – 4 Stars
These wings ended up being my favorite dish. They have an excellent crispy on the outside, juicy inside. Good flavor, too.

They are closer to 3.5 Stars. Nothing in the overall experience stood out to round up the overall rating.

We came here for the first time for lunch today (Sunday) waiting for my daughter’s urgent care appointment and were seated by the door. We (a table of 3) asked to move to one of the bigger tables away from the door as my daughter wasn’t feeling well and she said it was a busy day and that they needed to save the bigger tables for more customers which makes total sense by the time we left, the restaurant was still empty and they let someone else with just 3 people sit at the table we had previously asked for so the logic didn’t make sense and to top it off, we were never brought any water or tea either.

As for the food, we ordered congee, beef brisket noodles and Chinese donut. The price was higher than what I’ve had at other places (ie Mike’s Noodle House, Diamond Bay, Macky’s Dim Sum or Lee’s Kitchen) and the flavor and texture wasn’t as good either. I can’t speak for their BBQ offerings, but I can’t justify spending more for lesser quality and quantity. There are many other better options nearby or in the CID

A great restaurant for the area. Thank you to the owners for brining this style of Chinese BBQ.

I’m from the birthplace of American Chinese BBQ cuisine (San Francisco) so there’s a lot of scrutiny . The food here warmed my heart since it reminds me of the food I grew up with.

Try the Royal Chicken. It’s moist and tender. Dip in the traditional oil/ginger/scallion sauce for the full experience. Also order the roast duck.

If you are looking for a full and happy belly, here’s the place at the restaurant or take out for home. As an American, you will also find the food here familiar and well prepared.

The service is quick and courteous. The restaurant is a typical fast food restaurant, but with the family experience.

First time to Famous Kitchen, hunger level 3 out 5. Wanted something good -found it. Kitchen able to do a Mongolian chicken. Spicy is on target and flavorful. I like heat/spice and it did just right. Use to having broccoli with dish but the fried noodles were okay. Rice was perfect, curious if they offer brown. Ordered at the counter for dine in. Fast and efficient staff and food came out hot. Awesome, will be back for more sampling of the menu.

You know it’s legit when they got the roast ducks hanging in the glass display and everyone who walks in to order is Chinese. I got the roast duck rice bowl and it was delish. The duck had amazing flavor. It was juicy and tender. I would come here again.

We stopped by to grab some food while we were visiting, and I have to say—the roasted duck and pork were top notch. It’s a little on the pricey side, but you definitely get what you pay for. I highly recommend this spot if you’re craving roasted duck and pork. They also offer plenty of other delicious options on the menu.

Got Mongolian beef the most greasy plate I’ve ever had the rice noodle things were very dry and stale. The meat didnt taste very good either. Can feel the grease sitting in my throught after making me want to puke up Had to ask for a for could barely understand what she was saying and its way overpriced, if I wasn’t so hungry wouldn’t have eaten it.

Ordered take away. Chicken wasn’t properly cleaned and dozens of feathers were intact. Feathers were present on each cut but still given to us. Quite disgusting. I’ve had this dish in both China and Singapore numerous times, and not once did it even have a single feather.
