Outlet of a BBQ chain serving wood-smoked meats & sides in an American West-themed space.

I’ve been to famous thieves many times but this is the first time we had to go to the counter to order our food and then go and sit down. I told them it was a lot like fast food. They agreed, but that’s the way it goes food was good though.

Minus the broccoli and 1 burnt end, this was a 2 meat platter. It came with 2 sides (I got fries and broccoli). I ordered an extra corn muffin and a pop. I spent $28 and change. I am very disappointed by the burnt ends. It cost $1 extra to choose that as one of the meats. There were 6 or 7 small cubes. Burnt ends evoke fatty, meaty, tender chunks of brisket that are drizzled in sauce and put back on the smoker. They should be somewhat crispy around the outside and the extra heat makes the sauce smoky and sweet. These were cubes of meat that were of a texture, that makes me think of corned beef w sauce, not burnt ends. The sausage was good. It had a nice snap when I bit into it. There was a nice slow burn from the jalapeños and a burst of cheese, when I chewed it. The corn muffins have a good Crumb and are sweet, which pairs nicely against the sauce of the sausage. The broccoli could have used a pat of butter and a sprinkle of something to give it flavor. I really don’t eat FD that often, but I’ve had it twice in the last week. I don’t see a need to go back any time soon.

Came here for dinner with Grandma and left feeling like a raccoon who just found a feast on a garbage can lid, in the best possible way.
The vibe? Wonderful.
The food? Classic, unapologetic American BBQ.
The bathrooms? Covered in signs and slogans, as they should be.
Our server was attentive and kind, checked in just enough to make us feel welcome but gave us plenty of space to enjoy our meal and conversation.
We sat inside, because we’re not animals who eat outdoors. That said, they do have a lovely fountain on the patio if you’re into that sort of thing, perfect for gazing at while your BBQ is drenched in Devil’s Spit.
This is, in my humble but correct opinion, the best Famous Dave’s in the Twin Cities metro. Hands down.

I ordered take-out shortly after Thanksgiving using FD’s phone app and a $10 off offer that was texted me. They offer #1 of smoked sliced turkey for $14. I added my favorite FD’s sides of Cole slaw, gravy & Wilbur’s beans. Follow-up alert notified me my order was received & was warm and ready when I arrived 30 min after ordering. I had ordered quart-size sides but a pint of each had been received as the order and subsequently filled. So a minor glitch in the phone app software but I had to use the app in order to receive the $10 off. The order was corrected in a few minutes. Food was delicious and made three meals for me over the next 2 days. The manager acknowledged the software glitch. FD’s has had problems with their phone app over the last three years but at least the order was received and ready with minor changes upon arrival. I highly recommend FD Minnetonka for their great food, special offers & reward program and friendly staff. Phone app works but if you order quart-size portions, I would use the app to order but call the store to make sure your order was conveyed accurately.

This is the Famous Dave’s that other locations need to strive to be. I’ve been a customer here for over 20 years (I’m showing my age, yikes!), and the experience here is consistently excellent. I’m not going to say that every single visit has been perfect every time, but overall this is far and away our favorite location. The “shack” locations where you order at the counter don’t even remotely compare to the service and more importantly the food quality that the Minnetonka restaurant delivers.
On our most recent visit the ribs, chopped pork, sausage, and chicken tenders were fantastic. The brisket was a little tough, but still pretty good. The loaded baked potatoes were awesome, and other sides were great as well. We’ll definitely be back again.

Short wait time for seating & food. Ordered the Feast for 2 (w/ brisket) on a trashcan lid – it was outstanding Spacious indoor dining area w/ cabiny ambience. Nice outdoor porch dining option, too, w/ sprinkler pond.

Went out for some bucket list food -it’s been on dad‘s bucket list and time is getting short- found our way to some of the best catfish that I can comment on it is definitely some of the best I’ve ever had. Pictures say it all. A loaded potato and broccoli were equally delicious and perfectly cooked. Brisket was average a little dry just to be fair. Presentation plating was artistic including the way that they positioned the catfish. I hope to enjoy another order sooner than later! The deck seating on a gorgeous day was so relaxing. Traffic noise was a little loud but I only mention it for an objective review. Service stellar! Thanks

The space itself is a great space. Well designed, and well kept. Plenty of parking surrounding the establishment. The main entrance is only on one side of the restaurant. Fun stuff all around the restaurant, pies looked great (although I didn’t have any) You can learn from the fun items found around the cashier. Food wasn’t great at all. It’s usually good, but this time it wasn’t good. This is my first time eating at this location. I’ll come back to see if its a consistent thing with the food.
