We came because we heard about the burger – which after trying, is overhyped. The single patty burger to bun ratio was too much bread we could barely taste anything else. The corn soup was probably the best thing we tried – flavor was complex. Would suggest trying that though the chicken in the soup did taste like the pre packaged cubed chicken from Costco. The seafood tostada was fine, it tasted like chopped up ingredients that were put on a tostada. Not like a cohesive dish where the ingredients complement each other. The cocktails were super good though – propofol ice & Lola – well balanced and a unique twist on some classic cocktails! Service was great & food came out fast! Prices were steep though for what we got but I guess that’s Seattle…and the suggested gratuity STARTED at 22%,27%, and 32%….

This place was hailed as having one of the best burgers in town, and it did not disappoint. I loved the charred, crispy edges of the smash burgers and the umami-rich flavor of the sauce and toppings they added to it. It also came with thin truffle fries which were extra crispy and elevated — did not even need ketchup. We also shared the bulgogi red rice and I could eat this every day. The beef was tender and well-seasoned with that delicious bulgogi flavor. Ot came with an assortment of pickled vegetables and the rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I can’t wait to go back for more and try their chicken adobo tacos! We got there just as they opened at 5 PM and got a table immediately but by 5:30 it was packed!

Absolutely obsessed with Family Friend. The smash burger is unreal and the truffle fries were amazing. The corn chowder was also great and comforting.
The music is a whole vibe, the service is quick and friendly, and it truly feels like an IYKYK kind of spot. Everything about the experience feels easy and intentional.
They also have a great patio space that’s perfect for private parties, which I will definitely be utilizing in the future. If you know, you know.

Everything we had was incredibly tasty! I loved the vibes and the service. Although it was slightly pricey for the portion size, I absolutely loved the fusion dishes they created here and so I found it worth the price!

Family friend is such a fitting name. Awesome staff, awesome food, awesome environment.
We got the Seattle cider, followed by pineapple wheat. Then the propofol cocktail. All were really good. Food wise we all got the corn soup which is a MUST! Then a seafood tostada and the fried chicken. All of which was fantastic. Zero complaints. 100% coming back.

We came here after seeing the recommendation from infatuation and sadly it didn’t live up to the hype. Off the start I’d take off 0.5 stars for the pricing – everything was expensive and the portions were small and it didn’t help that the lowest default tip was set at 22%.
Corn soup (14.95 for a small to regular sized bowl) 4.5/5 – great depth of flavor, it’s a chicken corn coconut milk soup. Would definitely get it again if it was cheaper.
Burger with an extra patty ($25) 2/5 – feels bad saying this but the closest comparison would be a McDonald’s double cheeseburger. The patties weren’t crispy, the bun wasn’t toasted and was cold in the middle.
Service 4/5 – solid but not outstanding.

Great spot. Guamanian food interest my curiosity. The food is delicious and it’s got a vibe. I’ve been there a few times and love that they change up the menu. The corn chowder is great. The bulgogi entree was great. I had the chicken adobo tacos. The service was great. I just had the bartender make me a yummy drink with mezcal and it was fabulous!

Hidden Gem on Beacon Hill ✨
When I arrived at Family Friend, I honestly wasn’t sure if we were in the right spot. This hidden treasure only reveals itself by a small neon sign — unassuming, but absolutely worth the find. Once inside, I felt an immediate sense of warmth and comfort.
There was no hostess at first, but we were seated quickly by Sharon, whose smile and energy could light up any room. Her service alone deserves a standing ovation — patient, kind, and passionate about every dish she described.
Start with the Corn Soup (Rosary Style) — sweet corn, tender chicken thighs, coconut milk, onion, and garlic. It’s silky, vibrant, and layered with comfort and spice.
The Gollai Hågun Sope — mustard greens & kale in coconut milk and turmeric over corn. A vegan dream — not a large portion, but rich in flavor and nourishment.
Riyenu Empanadas — beautiful in presentation, though a bit too fried for my taste. The creamy green fina’dene sauce, however, was divine and worth the order alone.
Signature Old Fashioned — honey-forward and sweeter than expected; if you’re a traditionalist, you might prefer a classic version.
The outdoor patio was my favorite surprise — warm heaters, cozy art-covered walls, and an intimate setup perfect for date nights or quiet reflection. Accessibility was great, and while I wouldn’t call it “kid-focused,” it’s perfect for adults seeking calm conversation and quality food.
✨ Final thoughts: Modern, soulful, and filled with heart. A neighborhood must-try that feels like home away from home. I’ll be back to try the fried chicken and smash burger everyone’s raving about.

This was probably one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant in Seattle. I’m not even a particular foodie, it’s pretty easy to satisfy these taste buds but man was this place terrible. After a 30 minute wait for our table (which I am not complaining about btw) I expected some decent service and at least some decent food. Instead what I got was an insanely overpriced menu for some food that is definitely not worth the price. I’ve been to some high end dining restaurants with a similar price point to this and have gotten so much better results. I tried the chicken tacos which were $18 for 3 tacos. Dry chicken and literally nothing special about the tacos. They were extremely small, I don’t recall a distinctive sauce, or any ingredients. We had a large party annd our food took around 30+ minutes to come, which would have been fine but some of our entrees arrived cold. Eating cold chicken for the price point of $30 for an entree is unacceptable. Not to mention the mandatory 25% gratuity which is very much out of the ordinary. I’ve been to some fine dining spots in Seattle and have never seen a mandatory 25% gratuity before. Needless to say, I have finally had my first terrible 1 star review in Seattle, would not recommend. Food was unbelievable mid and prices were outrageous.

We walked in with 5 people on Monday night and were lucky enough to get the last available large table. This is a small restaurant so definitely go at an off-peak time if you’re with a large group. Given the small space, it is a very cozy and intimate setting that truly feels like your having dinner in a family home.
The Kewpie burger is often recommended as the best burger in Seattle and for very good reason. The crispy smashburger with raw onions and pickles make for a well balanced and addictive bite. Plus the truffle fries are deliciously crispy. My friend also tried the corn soup and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Street parking only in this area; easy to find a spot within a couple blocks.
