The legendary cornbread: 10/10
love their fried chicken and fishes too!

My wife and I came here and from the moment we walked in we were welcomed with open arms and could smell that familiar smell that someone that grew up in the south loves…good honest homecoming.
The staff knew most of the patrons by name and treated everyone as if they were family, us included.
I ordered the fried pork chops, collard greens, and cabbage with a side of blackened catfish. The product did not dissapoint, the pork chop fried and seasoned to perfection, the collard greens stood out as if the chef here made true love to them and were some of the best collards I’ve had in a minute. The blackened catfish was also crispy, spicy and accompanied with that tartar sauce made it an absolute banger.
My wife got the smothered pork chops, mashed potatoes, and green beans and said she normally doesn’t like gravy, but that gravy was 10/10.
I will be back to have your pigs feet; and I know it will be as good as the chops I am in for a treat.
So thank you Family Secrets for a great experience

There’s a sign that says wait for hostess to be seated… after 5 minutes I walked to the bar…the bartender was friendly…but she wasn’t old enough to make drinks so the owner/cook came from the back to make my cocktails….she was really nice!!!! The portions are huge as you can see….the yams & Mac and Cheese and potato salad was really good…the cabbage was good but it was spicy… I would go back

I ordered the chopped steak with onions and peppers mashed potatoes and slaw and my wife ordered the fried pork chops with cabbage and Mac and cheese. Wow -we both hit a home run. This is the best food we have had at a local restaurant. Everything on our plates was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. Only problem is we sat too close to the speaker playing music. Next time we will sit away from the speaker and there will be a next time. All the food tastes like momma cooked it. Definitely try the Mac and cheese. It didn’t come out of a box like other places I’ve been.

I was in town on July 3rd and had to take my mom to Family Secrets for her bday. TuTu was our hostess and did a wonderful job. The music, the conversation with staff and of course the food was 5 star. My mom gave the smothered porkchops 5 stars and also the collard greens. She said the potato salad isn’t how she makes it but it was good. I had the catfish dinner with Mac n cheese, yams, and collards. The catfish was fried to perfection. And my sides did not disappoint. it was everything I needed! Thanks for another wonderful experience!

I was disappointed because I just knew the food would be as delicious as my first visit.
I was dissatisfied with the taste of the food.
I ordered the jumbo chicken wings.
There wasn’t any seasoning on it.
The Mac with absolutely no cheese and the cabbage was the only thing that I ordered besides the cornbread that was good.
I paid $21 for a meal that I didn’t
Enjoy.
It looked Great however
I had to dispose of it. What a disappointment.
I won’t do that again.

Food was good. Service ok. Atmosphere old. A/C barely working.
Mac n cheese extremely basic. Chicken, fish, shrimp and crabcake good.
Gratuity included in the bill. Be careful not to double tip. Waiter tried to pull a fast one on us and not say a word about the included gratuity.

I ordered seafood platter grilled with Mac &cheese, yams and collard greens.
Yams were really good not too sweet
Collards greens banging (that’s a great thing lol)

The outside leaves a little to be desired inside it reminded me of an old time church. The food was Okay it wasn’t bad but not great. I had the fried whiting Mac n cheese and greens all of which were a little under seasoned The Mac n cheese was a little watery but tasted ok. My daughter had the fried pork chops Mac n cheese and green beans she said everything was good but the Mac n cheese was a little watery. My husband had a whiting sandwich with fries he said it was okay. Service was okay also they charge 18% gratuity up front so I didn’t feel the service warranted anything more. Our bill was about $70 then the added gratuity was $13. I probably won’t go again.
