7.6 on the slice
Friendly staff and quick service, always a plus, especially in such a high traffic area. I was skeptical of a halal pizza place (because the one by work in Danbury is trash) and decided to try the zah over a more traditional meal like a mixed grill or gyro platter. It was great! Amazing flop, as well as sauce to cheese ratio, and you can see it held together. Nice toasty undercarriage and great crisp, and a quality sauce.
The Buffalo Stromboli was great as well. It also came sliced in manageable pieces, which I found to be a must-have for something like that going forward.
Looking forward to parking here or going to the hospital again for a quick slice.
Great pizza all over this city, not just the big 3!
Chicago deep dish. I was told that New Haven Connecticut had the best pizza in America and after traveling there several times I’m absolutely certain that is true. I’ve been to all the big eateries in New Haven including Pepe’s and Zenelis And this place is so much better than both of them. Try the lamb Shawarma pizza it’s probably the best pizza that I’ve ever had in my life, and I am a big pizza either. My wife also is a big fan of Chicago deep dish and even she agrees that this is the best pizza that she’s ever had in her life. My mother who is a very picky eater worse than a toddler, even agreed that this is some of the best pizza she’s ever had. If you come to New Haven this is the place you should be eating pizza, and please try the lamb Shawarma pizza it’s so unique and tasty I’m sure you guys will all love it.
Also the owners are amazing and humble people, they always make you feel welcome and their prices are very reasonable. Their menu is very vast, and I love all of the Middle Eastern dishes. I haven’t had many of the subs however all of the food that I’ve had on multiple occasions has always been amazing. I highly recommend them and hope you all enjoy it as much as we have. We actually live in Philadelphia and initially found this place while traveling to Maine, and have been coming back many times just to eat there as the food is so good. Keep up the great work, God bless this great establishment. It is also right across the street from Yale New Haven Hospital so it’s very easy to find and is a very popular spot for take out.
Lentil soup with pita: 5/5
Chicken shawarma over rice: 4/5 very salty, only ok compared to NYC, but seems to be very good for New Haven. A local said it was much better over rice than as a shawarma.
Pizza: good dough, thin crust. I like that the pizza is not burned on the bottom. A variety of flavors:
– Mediterranean pizza: 4/5 but toppings were a little soggy
– Pepperoni pizza: 5/5
– Sausage? Meat Lovers? pizza: 4/5 kind of burnt toppings
– Cheese pizza: 5/5
Honestly such an underrated place, you need to try their subs, the Parmigiana and Buffalo ones are great!
