So worth the few extra minutes off the interstate to visit your diner today! Thanks for a fabulous Fish Friday lunch. Everything was delicious- the flounder, fried shrimp, mac and cheese, hush puppies and fried okra. Your staff was genuine, kind, and happy. And we could tell you are a beloved community hub. We so enjoyed this stop in our travels.

Family Diner is aptly named. Great home cooking, like a Sunday at Grandma’s house. Always at least 2 meat and 3 veg choices with your Mac & cheese done right or chicken and dumplings. Pies for dessert (unless you consider the SWEET tea dessert.)
Meat and 2 veg with tea under $13 at time of this writing.

I ran across this little place in my travels and decided to give it a whirl. Parking is limited, so if you’re late, then there is none. This is a buffet line style of ordering place. Go through the line, tell them you want, drink included, pay the cashier, and go sit down. If you need refills, take your drink up around the cashier. They have someone there doing refills. They do have someone who comes by to see if you need something, but when it’s so busy, better to just go ask. The food here is PHENOMENAL!! This is the type of country style cooking that many diners had over 20 years ago. The price is extremely reasonable. I’ve eaten lunch and breakfast here, and this is fine eating. If you haven’t tried this place and your local, you’re MISSING OUT! This is just like grandma’s cooking you had as a child if you’re 40+ years old. Stop in and give it a try!! 2 thumbs up.
FYI, if they have the stewed tomatoes on the day you stop in, try them. They are the best!!!!

Nice place. Very popular — which is always a good sign! We stopped for lunch while traveling north and really lucked out with some good food. Fast service on the daily specials. Be prepared for a real meal. Also Sr. Discount given on the full meals. Friendly staff and service with a smile.

The baked chicken is the best I have ever had in my life. I honestly never knew that chicken could taste like that! Moist, flavorful. The potatoes were tender. I am not a foodie, but I could be after eating at this place! A true gem and everyone was so kind.

Good Down-Home Soul Food
Visited on 7/31/18. Was cheerfully greeted by owner Mary Harris, who asked if it was our first time. (That says she knows her regular customers & there were a lot of them getting food that day.) She told me her specials for the day. I had fried pork chop (cooked to order) with sides and my friend had smothered baked chicken with sides. Excellent! Pork chop was moist and tender. Veggies fresh and cooked just right. They even have fried corn bread!
Only mark down was that this is cafeteria style and menu is at end of the line and on tables. Menu needs to be available when you enter restaurant. Don’t need it after I’ve ordered. I will go back next time I’m in Oxford.

The Family Diner’s motto, “a taste of love in ever Bite,” sums up well a down home, soul food diner, where you choose from a cafeteria line or order from a large menu, before you pay, at the end of the line, and then choose a table in one of two rooms.
The fried chicken, flavorful, moist, crispy, and NOT greasy, tops the menu; but then a slice of pie—lemon chess, chocolate, or sweet potato—or slice of poundcake may prove irresistible. You won’t leave hungry!
