This review is about sustainability!

By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean then fish. And over 95% of the plastic we sent to recycling does not actually get recycled.

So it means a lot to me to be able to find and support local businesses who are doing their part to help customers produce less trash when they consume a delicious coffee.

I love that you offer real, reusable mugs to folks who are staying on the premises. And I love that most of your fridge is filled with glass or aluminum canned beverages. I also love that you provide real cups at the water refill station.

Perhaps I would suggest that you look into selling other water? Perhaps aluminum canned water instead of single used plastic bottled water? And I wonder if there are ways you could be more clearly asking customers if they are staying to enjoy their coffee. That would limit the amount of trash created on site, as seen in the cans.

Thank you for considering my feedback, and thank you for the truly delicious coffee. This place is a must visit for folks stopping through or those in town.

My husband and I visited Familia Cafe on National Dog Day – I loved that they had an interactive thing for customers to draw their pet!! The space was really cool. There was a lot of seating outdoors! I thought the service was quick. I gave it 4 stars in service because I didn’t personally think the staff were very friendly or welcoming. They had positive attitudes, but I didn’t necessarily feel welcomed! The coffee was good! I got the cafe miel – which I really liked!! My husband got the lavender latte – I think that he liked his but was a little thrown off by the actual lavender flowers in the coffee! I also gave atmosphere 4 stars because a majority of the art was explicit drawings of women. I personally didn’t enjoy that part of the atmosphere, but I loved the building and decor!

Parents if you’re here moving your kids back to school pop over here and grab a vanilla oat latte! Delicious and the place is so warm and cute!

New location, same amazing drinks and pastries. The pastries are house made and so delicious. Especially the olive oil cake and the cookies. Breakfast biscuit sandwiches are also so good

These baristas make the best foam in all of Humboldt, but you can’t order certain drinks in the size you want.

At first we thought the size limitations was because it was just a newer establishment and they were ironing out their recipes, but no. It’s a clear management decision.

Their pricing is also pretty wild. Over $7 for a 12 oz London Fog Latte…that only comes in a 12oz?

Their pastries, are not great. The cookies are delicious, but they’re TINY for $3 each.

Excellent coffee, thank you, but… no baked goods put out yet after 30 minutes open, cussing first thing in the morning from staff, 20 minutes for a pour over… and I’d skip those orange construction cones you’re using to keep the front door open, and could you please wipe down the water off your tables and chairs first thing so people have a place to sit? Go for the coffee, but try not to cringe on the experience. Great potential to do much better with some attention to the customers experience.

Excellent tasting artisan lattes and cappuccinos, great pastries, the banana chocolate muffin was an amazing surprise of flavors. Great place to visit, nice outdoor seating, including an ADA picnic table

Hidden gem, super cute interior and outdoor seating. Molé latte is crazy good and I told everyone about it. Food is delicious and well made, but smaller portions.

This place is adorable and so good.
we had chilaquiles and chorizo/egg tacos 10/10.
I also had the oatmilk lavender latte .
I would come daily but I am out of town and just passing by .
I highly recommend this place and bring the Family with you since there is space for kids to play around.

Familia Cafe is an awesome new coffee shop in the Creamery District of Arcata.

I’ve been here a few times now and really enjoy their decaf espresso and decaf coffee. I know, I’m a decaf only drinker now.

They also have gluten free options. Thank goodness. They usually have a couple of baked goodies. Today I got a gluten free egg sandwich, which was delicious.

Only thing I do not like, is it only has outdoor seating, and that outdoor seating is limited. I wish they had indoor seating, as I’d like to study there.

Great coffee, great food. Also very nice staff.

Go support a new local business!
