We had dinner here and started with the burnt tips, which were excellent — flavorful with just the right balance of sweetness, complemented nicely by the pickled onions. That was definitely the highlight of the meal.
The salmon was pretty good, but the halibut was disappointing. It was served over consommé and vegetables, but the fish was overcooked and dry, which may have been why it was paired with the broth. It was also overly salty.
As for drinks, the strawberry margarita was watered down with very light flavor. The espresso martini also fell short — the espresso taste was faint and lacked the dark, robust richness you’d expect.
Overall, the restaurant didn’t quite hit the mark for us.
our drinks were phenomenal, highly recommend the espresso martini and the mule. the espresso martini had no harsh, alcoholic bite, and the espresso had a lovely, chocolatey note that paired well with the creamy mouthfeel. the mule was balanced in sweetness and tartness, and the ginger really shined towards the end of each sip. the burnt ends were so fatty but the pickled red onions provided enough sharpness to cut through the oil, making for a wonderful bite, especially with the cornbread! my halibut’s miso was salty and slightly gritty, but the salt paired perfectly with the subtle nuttiness of the mushrooms and the heavy umami of the dashi broth. i loved that there were a decent amount of non dairy options that were flavorful, many restaurants rely on heavy creams and cheeses and it can make my dining experience extremely limited and difficult. i appreciate the wide variety on such a condensed menu.
our service was top tier. gracie was so charming, personable, sweet and had great recommendations for food. we loved having the opportunity to chat with her. she was attentive and unobtrusive, and never interrupted us or checked on us too often, as some servers do. her timing was impeccable and she always brought our food or got us new drinks at the natural end of our previous item so we didn’t feel rushed or like we were waiting too long. she was a highlight to our night, as well as the young man with the festive light necklace that informed us of the nutcracker discount! we hope to see gracie and fall line soon!!
We ordered the lump crab hush puppies and french onion soup as our appetizers which were both 10/10. For my entree I had the bolognese rigatoni, pretty good I would say 7/10. My dad had the braised short rib which I believe he would describe as a 10/10 since he cleared the plate. For dessert we ended with the gooey butter cake which you absolutely must try because words can’t describe how good it was, 12/10 would recommend.
The food was just as impressive. The burger was juicy and full of flavor, and the guacamole tacos tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. Everything came out perfectly prepared and beautifully presented.
What truly set this visit apart was Michelle’s outstanding service. She anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, offered great recommendations, and made us feel so welcomed. It’s rare to find someone who delivers such a genuine and exceptional dining experience, and Michelle truly deserves recognition.
