I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and specifically asked the waiter whether it was chicken thigh or breast. He told me it was dark meat, but it was very clearly chicken breast, and on the dry side. I’ve had solid chicken breast sandwiches before, but this one missed the mark texture-wise. It was seasoned fairly well, but I strongly prefer fried chicken sandwiches made with thigh, so this was disappointing — especially after asking directly. I didn’t make a point to call it out at the table, but it’s a pet peeve when staff confidently give incorrect info. Beyond preference, accuracy matters, especially for dietary or allergy reasons.
The breakfast potatoes on the side were just okay — slightly undercooked and not crispy enough for my liking. My friends both ordered the double cheeseburger and described it as “fine” but nothing memorable. The patties were on the smaller side and noticeably smaller than the bun, which is always a miss in my book.
Overall, Fable is a decent option if you’re looking for a pleasant, inviting space to hang out and talk, but I wouldn’t come back specifically for the food. Good vibe, average execution.
The service was great as well. Everyone was friendly and nice, but also gave us our space. The great thing is that they didn’t bombard us with everything all at once. They timed it perfectly so we could relax and enjoy the meal.
We’ll be back soon I hope. I didn’t get to try the strawberry dessert and it sounded really good.
The food was AMAZING! The vegan lasagna is the best thing my taste buds have tasted. It was so good I needed to buy a second one to take home (which I’ve never done). I would eat here everyday if I could. New favorite restaurant!
The biscuits and gravy was delicious, they gave me some house hot sauce, which was a good touch!
Expect SF pricing, the meal is gonna be over $20 a person.
Service was great, the staff was really sweet and got us a table quickly, had a reservation, very quick set up on Google maps.
The backyard patio was so damn cute, good amount of seating, lots of space between people, tons of greenery to set the mood, all around a great spot for a brunch or lunch date!
I really should have asked for a different table as they almost ruined a perfectly cooked meal. Now to the food.
I ordered their braised pork cheeks and their rocky mountain chicken.
The braised pork cheeks have potential. I really like the kale vinaigrette base. The cheeks were super tender but missed a bit of a crunch. I think they should be pan seared to get that extra texture before the breading and oven roasting. I think this dish has huge potential but needs some tweaking.
The chicken was out of this world, it was worth the wait as it takes about 20 min preparation time. Tender juicy flavours all top marks.
In addition great friendly service and a beautiful setting.
Thank you I will be back.
I asked whether the patio is heated and how warm or cold it tends to feel around 7:30pm. He replied with sarcasm, saying he had no way to predict the future and therefore no idea what conditions would be like. Since he did not answer the heating question, I asked again. He repeated the same response about not predicting the future instead of giving a straight answer. I called back and canceled the reservation.
Feedback for Fable management. Staff handling phone reservations need patience and basic hospitality training. Guests asking straightforward questions deserve clear, respectful responses.
