Dinner and a show? Evo Kitchen & Bar delivers both.

We visited Evo Kitchen & Bar in September 2025 and grabbed two seats at the bar facing the open kitchen — hands down the best decision of the night. Watching the team move with quiet precision while plates flew out made the whole experience feel alive. It’s modern Mediterranean, but with polish and confidence.

We ordered a spread because narrowing it down felt impossible: skordalia, falafel, broccolini, and the mushroom shawarma — and every plate hit.

The skordalia was silky and rich without being heavy — that classic Greek potato-garlic dip whipped into something almost cloudlike, bright with lemon and good olive oil. It was deceptively simple, but the balance of acid, salt, and garlic was dialed in.

The falafel were beautifully crisp on the outside, tender and herbaceous inside — clearly made with care. They were plated over a creamy purée that added a smooth, savory contrast. My only tiny critique: the purée was artfully smeared high along the sides of the bowl, which looked great but made it tricky to scoop up every last bit with a spoon. A small thing — and trust me, you’ll want every last bite.

The broccolini had that perfect char from high heat, tender with a little snap left in it. It tasted fresh and vibrant, elevated with Mediterranean accents that made it feel thoughtful rather than routine.

And the standout for me: the mushroom shawarma. Deeply savory, layered with warm spices, and cooked to a meaty texture that made it incredibly satisfying. It had all the soul of traditional shawarma but with a modern, vegetable-forward spin. Filling, complex, and beautifully plated.

Across the board, the dishes were generous and satisfying. The ingredients were straightforward — vegetables, legumes, herbs — but the flavors were anything but simple. You can tell there’s serious skill in that kitchen.
Service was friendly and efficient, the space was spotless, and plates came out quickly without ever feeling rushed.

If you’re in Portland and want Mediterranean flavors executed with finesse and creativity, sit at the bar, order widely, and let Evo show you what they can do. Highly recommend making a reservation and going hungry.

One of the best tapas based dining experiences we have had in a long time. Very conscientious about dietary needs and restrictions. The GF and DF labeled menu was paramount in us reserving a table here. Our waiter was fantastic and knew the menu inside and out. His recommendations were always spot on and did not disappoint.

Also, order the chickpea fries. They were awesome

It’s not often I’m surprised by a place, but this was a real “wow” moment. Service was exceptional. Funny, gracious, informative, friendly, sorry I didn’t catch a name but she was a real rockstar. We went on a Sunday night and sat in the loft area.

We don’t usually take “to go” containers when we don’t finish something, but this time the food, Mushroom Shawarma, was too good not to.

This place will make its way into our Portland food rotation and recommendations.

This place is the real deal. Service was amazing and the tapas plates were sooo flavorful and yummy. 4 plates were perfect for 2 of us, but it depends on what you order (you might need 5 or even 6 for smaller plates). I highly recommend this place.

We’ve been to EVO several times over the years, and our most recent visit was by far the best. The new Chef, Chase introduced himself and explained the new dishes. The mussels escabeche and the halloumi were some of the best food I’ve ever had at EVO. 10/10

Best meal my wife and I have had at EVO or Twelve in a while. The standout was the chicken thigh which is one of the most flavorful dishes we’ve ever had.

Other highlights include the carrots, tomato onion salad, and the salmon. Special thanks to the chef for sending out a dessert on the house. 10/10 experience.

This review is long overdue for a truly five-star dining experience with an unforgettable twist. Buckle up, because Evo Kitchen + Bar delivers not only on incredible food but also on a level of care and attentiveness from the staff that left a lasting impression.

My sister and I made reservations in June 2023 for my birthday dinner. We were seated immediately at a bar table facing outside (perfect for people-watching) and decided to go all in with the chef’s tasting menu and wine pairings. The evening started beautifully: the staff was warm and attentive, and the food was off to an excellent start. Then things took an unexpected turn.

Partway through our meal, a man came in, sat at the bar, and stood out as he was dressed casually. His behavior was unsettling, especially as he began staring at us and eventually approached us to initiate conversation. A server, with incredible intuition, immediately stepped in and asked him to return to his seat. Unfortunately, he continued to watch us uncomfortably throughout the night. Later, another man joined him, and our concerns about leaving safely grew (the bar is next to the entrance).

Sensing the situation, the staff acted discreetly and decisively. A second server confirmed there was a back exit and, without hesitation, the team coordinated a quiet plan to escort us out safely and avoid further confrontation.

The food was exceptional and the service impeccable, but what truly stood out was the staff’s professionalism, intuition, and genuine care for their guests’ well-being. They didn’t just deliver an outstanding dining experience—they kept us safe during an unnerving situation.

Evo Kitchen + Bar is intimate, exciting, and unforgettable. I’ll always be grateful to the team for their attentiveness and quick thinking that night.

Booked a reservation at in the bar area for dinner. Great atmosphere being able to watch the chefs in action. Our bartender, Matt, was excellent and was extremely helpful with suggestions. The food was phenomenal for which we ordered the skordalia, kibbeh, swordfish special, mussels, and the tahini brownie. Would highly recommend.

We came here for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience at the counter overlooking the kitchen. The Evo Experience for $70pp was amazing. We topped it off with rice pudding for desert.
