Amazing view. Good service and good food.
This was the only restaurant opened during Christmas. Had breakfast and lunch multiple days. All food ordered were tasty.

This is a cute little restaurant in the Ely lodge. It was convenient to be able to walk down stairs from our room to grab breakfast. I had the French toast with fruit ( the fruit was from the freezer mostly thawed, aka: mushy) the other person in my party had eggs, toast, bacon, and hashbrowns. He said his meal was good. It’s always a let down when there isn’t a pork alternative on the menu for breakfast.
We were charged for 2 coffees we didn’t get. Our waiters words “my bad.” This coming from a 50 something yr old man.
I’m guessing from the good reviews their other meals of the day are good.

We stayed in the lodge for 4 days and ate here for dinner 3 out of 4 days. We really wanted to like this place but we were just disappointed. The first day we had amazing appetizers. The stuffed crab mushrooms and chicken wild rice soup were amazing! We ate breakfast here 3 out of 4 days as well and the breakfast was awesome every day!
Unfortunately, that was it though sadly. Au gratin potatoes, stuffed walleye, steak, curly fries, pasta, fried clams, fried shrimp, they all lacked seasoning. Not to mention the fat on the steak wasn’t even rendered. We ordered the chicken wild rice soup 3 times. The first night was great, the second night tasted just ok, and by night 3 you could tell the soup was simply “leftovers.” Fried clams lacked actual clams and was mostly breading. Fried shrimp again had no seasoning.
The staff were always the greatest though. Super friendly, attentive, just awesome people!
The view of the lake is quite breathtaking this time of year. Fridays and Saturdays I would highly recommend reservations as it’s quite busy and they fill up.
You may be asking if we didn’t like dinner then why did we keep going? Well unfortunately, this time of year in Ely, hardly anything is open in town unless you want Subway or Domino’s every day.
Like I said, due to the staff and the views and breakfast, we really wanted to like this place. But after trying almost half their menu, we unfortunately were left disheartened.
Highly recommend this place for breakfast, the atmosphere, the staff, along with the views. But food-wise for dinner could be a lot better.
Thank you for having us and being so sweet to our family. You have a great set of staff!

Great drinks and good service even though the bar side was packed full. The chicken wild rice soup never disappoints. We tried the nachos and those are so, so. The cheese wasn’t fully melted, but decent amount of beef, lettuce, salsa and sour cream. Next time we will stick with the wings as those are always great.

Best meal in a very long time had salmon Oscar w asparagus and fake lobster ( that was too soggy no flavor) typically it’s real lobster. ( they don’t share that) the salmon was best. Had a great server she knows her stuff, not at all for small talk all business! Alyssa the hostess was awesome great small talker. Hubby had half rack of ribs and we both had salads they were packed. We left full and happy. As a tourist here surprised they were so booked but they have connected rooms and server said they don’t open. Large snowmobile parties and if you rely on us then you need to open more rooms. Our server ” squeezed ” us in but we only had a block of time. I don’t get why no more space was open? And the place was packed. If you don’t have customers then don’t have to worry about loosing them

Evergreen restaurant is situated in the perfect spot in Ely. Awesome appetizers, beverages, and we stayed for dinner until sunset.
We spent about 68 bucks and were completely full. This included two coffees, two drinks, appetizer mushrooms, surf and turf with walleye and Langostino lobster and pasta. Just awesome!

Evergreen restaurant has been a favorite of my wife’s and I for each visit we have gone to Ely. The service is very prompt, we are seated with our menus and drinks on the way. It has the most amazing view looking over a forest. Today Cassie and I had some Duck Bacon wontons for an appetizer which were warm and delicious, our entree consisted of a mushroom and Swiss burger with a side salad and for me Caesar’s Chicken Sandwich with a side of fries. I can certainly say I was very pleased with the food and the service. Our server was rushing back and forth with water, coffee, food and other peoples orders. We felt bad cause it seemed to us they must be short handed but she never stopped smiling and being so helpful. We can’t wait to come back and enjoy another adventure in Ely, MN. Busy place so you should make a reservation. But if you walk in, they have seating outside the restaurant in the hotel lobby, or in the bar.
Either way, the service was decent and the food was excellent.
Recommend the pan-fried walleye – probably the best walleye I’ve ever eaten.
Looking forward to our return to Ely for a visit to the Evergreen.

We sat in the bar. Bob the bartender was amazing. We sat next to someone that seemed like he was a regular and he won $1000 in pull-tabs, pretty cool!
The wild rice soup was incredible – bread it came with was meh BUT the soup, mmmmm.
Spinach dip was super tasty
I didn’t have a lot of hope for the burger when we got it but it exceeded my expectations.
Buffalo wings hit the spot.

Our server Kimberly told us the wild rice soup was what they were known for, and after getting a cup, I totally understand why. It is that good. Everything our group had was delicious. Our server was great. The view from the dining room was nice.
