Never heard of this place before, but came here to celebrate a birthday dinner for my friend. Food was delicious. Our kind waiter, Gabriel, was nice enough to ask the chef if I could swap out the rice porridge with cheesy grits with the catfish and he was able to and it was so delicious. Thank you Gabriel. The drinks were delicious too I can’t remember exactly what it was called but it was something with peach and vodka. It was really good. Would definitely come again. Ambience was very nice very upscale and classy.

Delicious food and exceptional service at Evening Star! We dined for Valentine’s Day and enjoyed both the fixed price and al a carte menus. Everything was amazing: my husband proclaimed the meatloaf the best he’d ever had and my sumptuous lobster risotto was so generously portioned that I brought leftovers home! A special note on the cheesecake: it is topped with a tangy passion fruit sauce and probably one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Such a unique flavor and we absolutely loved it! I also want to call out the staff for their friendly and customer-focused service. We’ve dined at some of the finest establishments in and around DC but rarely have we received the sort of excellent service we saw at Evening Star last night. That’s high praise, especially on busy Valentine’s Day. Especially grateful to the front of house staff who got us such a lovely table by the front window. We will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. – From eggs Benedict to the burrito to my mushroom omelette. All were delicious. They each had a different side item as well. Note: we all started eating before any of us remembered to take a photo.
The eclectic art was a nice touch. Vintage erector sets were repurposed into really cool artwork.
Additionally, there were other nice spaces that could be reserved separately if you have an event… Upstairs, a bar area and pool table. Outback, there was a covered space with a bar as well, but you would want to wait for cooler weather.

I had an amazing experience at Evening Star Cafe in Arlington VA! We met up with family here and loved the experience! The decor was so fun and staff, especially our server, Gabriel, was wonderful. Gabriel was knowledgeable about the menu and had great suggestions for food and drinks. We loved everything we had and can’t wait to come back again!

Eleven family members and I had dinner and drinks at The Evening Star while they were in town visiting during the 2025 holiday season. The atmosphere was so comfortable & cozy, the food & drinks were beautifully crafted, delicious, and delivered timely. Not an easy task for a table that size. Our server, Gabe was very attentive, friendly, and made his job look easy and fun. We highly recommend dining at The Evening Star to see for yourselves what this great team brings to the table.

Found a total hidden gem in Arlington! Our server Alex was seriously the best—so cool and made our friends visiting from Europpe feel right at home. We tried the Gumbo and the Country Steak, which were both amazing, and the beets are actually a must-try (surprisingly good!). We’ll definitely be back for more.

Over the holidays, I had the pleasure of dining at your restaurant for the first time. The food was exceptional, my steak was done perfectly. I totally enjoyed viewing your decor, especially the little printer drawers on the wall.
Also, I have to commend our server, Gabe Vázquez for his excellent service and knowledge of the menu. We received our food promptly, and I will definitely dine at your restaurant again when I’m in the area.

Had a wonderful time at the Evening Star Cafe for dinner, I had the Blackened Salmon. Our server Gabe did a wonderful job tending to dietary needs and allergy issues. He did so well I offered him a job, to see the world and sell my innovative vacuums that don’t suck! But he declined. I was shocked because I had offered quintuple his current salary. Gabe looked me in the eyes and confidently said how much the Cafe meant to him, what it stood for, and the amazing people he works with. Gabe, a fantastic server and extraordinary employee (no doubt) I tip my hat to you. Evening Star Cafe on Mt Vernon Ave on the corner, you have a good one on your hands. Food was good too! Heard the chicken and waffles were delicious from close friends but will have to come back to try it.

I recently went to the evening star cafe and I had high hopes going into this. That outdoor atmosphere is fantastic, except for the loud AC unit above everyone’s heads, and I was ready for a fun and delicious meal.
To start, the host was extremely kind and helpful. Our waitress did the bare minimum. Did not come by often for refills, couldn’t remember who’s meal was who’s, and just didn’t seem too excited to be there. I’ll spare more details. I only say this for reference since 5 starts is a perfect experience. I also would like to add all the rules at this place is confusing. No Tex mex unless it’s a certain day of the week, drink specials only apply if you’re in a certain section of the restaurant… it’s confusing.
The food on the other hand looked great and had some great flavor around the table! I am sad to say though the French fries were the star of the show. The only perfect item I tried. My chicken sandwich was loaded with layers of different sauces and items that confused the palate into a basic meal. The crab cake had tons of flavor but was burnt (would recommend either way if you like jalapeños), and the wedge salad didn’t come out with dressing/came with burnt chicken. I forgot to take pictures, apologies. Lastly the pork starter was there for flavor but it felt like the there was more garnish then protein.
Other than that all I can speak to was the drink I had. Ghost in the ship or something like that.. I couldn’t end up finishing it.
With all that to say, it’s a nice relaxing area. Get a drink with a burger with fries but I dont know if I’ll be back. Maybe to try the brunch!

Was able to walk in for a brunch at 12:30pm and no wait. Food was delicious, I ordered the Brisket Texas Toast with a Grapefruit Mimosa. Del Ray area has great food and this is no exception.
The vibe inside is so nice. It’s like a classic diner with some nice trinkets on the wall and beautiful, fun, industrial-ish lamps.
Definitely coming back!
