Best brunch in Chicagoland. The food is incredible and the prices are reasonable. My brother-in-law ordered the smoked salmon brandade, which it was so beautiful I had to take a picture. I had the classic breakfast with sausage and sourdough toast, and I will be coming back soon to have it again.

I was the wedding planner for my brother’s wedding on October 11th at the Dawes House in Evanston, IL. EvaDean’s made the cake and it was absolutely delicious!
EvaDean’s was fantastic to work with from start to finish. The bride and groom raved about the cake tasting experience, they contacted me to confirm delivery ahead of time, and on the day of the wedding the EvaDean’s team delivered the beautiful cake promptly and efficiently.
Our guests absolutely raved about how delicious the cake was. We had a yellow cake with raspberry and pistachio cream and a buttercream frosting. The flavors blended beautifully, and the icing was so light and fluffy it was hard to be believed.
I HIGHLY recommend EvaDean’s to anyone needing beautiful and delicious cake for a large event.

Three of us had brunch at EvaDeans yesterday. It’s a pleasant space and not too loud in the side room. The restaurant food and the baked goods are good; not great but good. Overall though, it was an uncomfortable experience. The waiter brought our check before any of us were finished eating. It was electronic so we couldn’t even see the bill. We are eating and chatting and finding our credit cards. One of my friends asked for a coffee refill (which should be allowed at $5 a cup.) Instead of coffee, we got the manager who asked us to vacate the table because they are backed up with reservations. All of this in 55 minutes. I guess EvaDeans is a fuel stop and not a restaurant. If you want to sit with friends and talk, this is NOT the place to go!

My mother and I visited EvaDean’s for lunch after a doctor’s appointment nearby. I had never been, but driving by the cafe looked so cute we decided to stop for lunch. We decided to sit in the cafe as opposed to the bakery. We were seated very quickly, and the waiter brought us water and greeted us immediately. I had the tuna melt, which was delicious. My mother had the vegetable quiche, which was fresh, decadent and the crust was perfectly crisp. The side salad was also nicely dressed. We didn’t stay long, but very much enjoyed the meal. It’s clear this place is popular (it was absolutely packed on a Thursday afternoon), and I see why! The atmosphere was very cute, and the bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The patio also looked very nice – if it had been warmer out we would’ve sat outside. We also stopped to see the bakery side, and all the baked goods and sandwiches looked delicious and fresh. I will definitely be stopping by next time I’m in the area!

This is my fourth time eating at Eva and Dean Bakery. Overall, the food is excellent and service superb. However, the shrimp and grits dish was not good. The grits, although cooked well, lack salt and I did not detect the flavor of cheese.. The dish is better served with a biscuit and not biscuit crumbles on top of the dish. Also, the shrimp had absolutely no flavor. For an expensive dish, the food was disappointing for sure. I can teach you how to make this dish superbly with simple, quality ingredients.

Wow! Their overall service has gone way down over the years. We’ve had wonderful experiences with the cake decorating in the past – ordered two beautiful birthday cakes from them. However this year, we made a very simple birthday cake and cookie order in which the end result was completely underwhelming. In addition, multiple clerical mistakes were made and when they were brought to the management’s attention, there was no response. Poor decorating and even worse customer service.
If you are going to charge a premium, then you really need to deliver. Unfortunately, this was not what we asked for nor was it worth the high price. We will not be returning.
(If you are curious, the picture shows a cake top that is not flat, bulky fondant work – the F1 logo was supposed to be much skinnier and smaller, fondant red ropes around the sides that are extremely uneven, a printed checker pattern – was not supposed to be printed edible paper and has a seam right in the front, and last minute writing that is squished on top – was supposed to be on the cake base and is sloppy)

This was a good finding. We were very pleased with the food, it was very good and beyond expectations.
The crepe with apples was delicious. It has a German taste, if you’re familiar with it, but I think the combination of caramel and cheese cream was very good. Not the usual sugar bomb, well balanced
My eggs Benedict were perfect. The hollandaise sauce was one of the best I’ve tried, and the muffin was so buttery and rich.
The service was good, it just was weird to have to ask for a spoon twice after being served with our mochaccino and hot chocolate.
Anyhow, nice people and great food. Very recommended

EvaDean’s Bakery and Cafe is a true gem! I stopped by recently, and I can’t stop thinking about their almond croissant – it was simply perfection: light, flaky, and filled with just the right amount of almond goodness. Paired with their rich hot chocolate, it was an unforgettable treat.
The cafe’s interior is cozy and charming, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. Whether you’re there to catch up with a friend or simply relax, EvaDean’s is the perfect spot. Highly recommend stopping by for a pastry and a cup of comfort!

Fun place located on Wilmette’s main shopping drag along Central Ave. It includes a bakery up front, with a pastry counter worthy of a Wayne Thiebaud painting.
On a recent visit, my partner and I stopped for breakfast in their adjacent restaurant space. I had a very solid gruyere and chives omelet; my wife had tasty huevos rancheros. The meals are appealingly plated and the coffee was robust. The menu is helpfully divided into savory and sweet sections, and there are gluten-free options too, certainly not a given in most bakery/restaurants.
On a late April Saturday morning the whole Eva Dean’s space hummed with activity. People came and went for their bakery treats and every table was full inside the restaurant. In an adjacent event room, kids screeched with delight at a cartoon princess birthday party
Prices aren’t exactly cheap – together our bill came to about $50. But hey, this is a nice place on the North Shore, what do want? Plus I’ve spent almost $40 for 2 for lunch at Chipotle and Panera.
If you’re looking for a nice change of pace, in a pretty, colorful space, this is a good spot to check out. And bring your sweet tooth with you

The only way to say it is that this place is the real deal. The build out isn’t much, and so I can’t really give that the highest rating, but the service is impeccable by *trained and experienced* staff. Over everything is the kitchen. Every single thing I’ve ordered here has been very well prepared. You go to a diner, or you go to a café somewhere and it’s usually OK and “enough” or whatever. But for these people, breakfast is also *cuisine*. These pancakes this morning of a perfect consistency and a perfect brownness that I can’t always get in my own kitchen, and I’ve been making pancakes for literally 55 years. I just can’t say enough about the talent back there in that kitchen.
