Home of the Monster German Weiner. The year was 1980. Ronald Reagan took office as president. The Rubik’s Cube made its debut. And a quirky, German deli and restaurant called Mr. Dunderbak’s opened in the Regency Square Mall in Jacksonville, Fla. In the 1990s, the Zarkas re-opened as European Street Cafe. Today, E. Street encompasses three restaurants throughout Jacksonville: Riverside, San Marco and Jacksonville Beach. E. Street remains one of the most popular and beloved restaurants in Northeast Florida, with 100+ menu items and one of the most extensive beer selections in the city. Not only is it a place where everybody knows your name, but it’s one where they know your drink (and your sandwich, if you’re a regular).

Stacked sandwiches, desserts & a huge beer selection star at this comfy German-inspired local chain.

The restaurant is extremely busy and has a lot of cool stuff like candies and pastries and beers and the staff is very nice. Jessica’s review of the spinach and artichoke dip is that the bread is very soft and tastes good. The spinach dip tastes only of spinach, and canned or frozen spinach at that. It’s fine.

Really awesome restaurant. Atmosphere is lovely. Very busy but staff is friendly and attentive. We ordered sliders with sides. The beer cheese soup was excellent and the beef and boursin sliders were my favorite.

We had such a great first visit to European Street Café! The service was incredibly fast, and our server was so helpful walking us through the menu. We started with the cheese and crackers, which hit the spot. I had falafel pita with olive salad and my partner had the knockwurst & pastrami sandwich. Everything was delicious and was priced very affordably!

Our baby even got in on the fun with the Monster German Wiener Jr., and at just 10 months old he absolutely loved it. We can’t wait to come back and try more!

Portion sizes might have gotten smaller from what I remember. Before COVID the portions were bigger. Food quality & Atmosphere is still great. The servers are nice and attentive making sure we were good on drinks. Parking might be very busy

First visit: I got the French dip which I thought was like a 8.5/10. I also got soft pretzels with their beer cheese soup & honestly, I’d go without it next time, I wasn’t impressed. Peanut butter pie is a smaller piece but it’s pretty good!

Second visit: I got the California Ruben and thought it was good! It had a very small amount of coleslaw though so I wish there was more of that.

My food was pretty mid, but my wife’s food was friggin amazing and the portions are large enough that we just ate hers. The croissants were so good I am going back again for the second time this week. The server was great as well. Get the croissants and avoid the honey wheat bread.

Very much enjoyed my 2 for 1 beer and sandwich on the patio. Food is always fast and I really enjoy looking through their beer inventory when I visit. Definitely a “local” vibe. Been eating here for 20+ years and I have no intention of stopping.

Love this pet-friendly deli! European Street has a great vibe, delicious sandwiches (their mini sliders are a fave!), and tasty baked goods. Plus, they have a rotating selection of beers. The best part? You can bring your furry friend along and enjoy the patio together!

As a dog owner, it’s hard to find great food and a welcoming spot for my pup. European Street hits the spot on both counts! It’s a rare find, and I’m so glad I stumbled upon this gem. Whether you’re a foodie or a dog lover (or both!), European Street is a must-visit destination.
