Amazing vegetarian platter that even my omnivore friends will devour. Service is pretty nice too. The food is amazingly seasoned as well, so tasty and such a good value for your money.

Went for lunch with coworkers, we ordered our food to go, but it smelled so good we just had to try a bite before leaving—and ended up eating it all right there! I ordered the veggie sampler, every dish was incredibly flavorful and fresh, with perfectly soft, tangy injera and a delicious mix of lentils, greens, and stews. The staff were so kind and welcoming, and the food was absolutely irresistible.

My first time eating Ethiopian food and it was delicious! The vegetarian sampler was great with the tea and the sambusas were lovely. I will definitely come back!

Food was great, although the injera was too sour for my liking. The Ethiopian coffee was fabulous. My only complaint which knocks off a star for courtesy to guests is not mentioning there was a 20% gratuity that was going to be charged, as well as not mentioning it after the charge either. The 6 of us were discussing 20% calculation for tip and as I was writing out the tip, someone had flipped the receipt over to see that gratuity was already charged. Automatic gratuity for bigger parties is 100% acceptable but every restaurant I have worked in or been to has always communicated that to the guests. Not communicating that felt a bit sketchy and didn’t leave us feeling nice but besides that, the service was great. I just recommend mentioning the automatic charge to tables as some guests might get pretty upset with the lack of communication.

I’ve been to this place five times since 2016, and every single time the food and the service have been phenomenal. They never disappoint on either front. My husband eats meat, and I’m a vegetarian, making this a perfect place for us to choose what we want and still share a single meal together.
Today, for the first time, I tried their honey wine mead, and it’s so good! I usually order their coffee, but unfortunately, they didn’t have the beans. Also, they didn’t have mango for the mango drinks. That’s the only reason I’m giving it four stars. Often, your favorite menu items might not be available.

We were greeted warmly from afar by the owner at Ethiopian Diamond, and the space was nice, though a bit too large for the number of guests. We ordered the Tibs Sampler, Meat Sampler, and a side of samosas based on our waitress’s recommendation. The samosas were good, but the main dishes were disappointing and repetitive sides, under-seasoned meats, and a lack of flavor overall. As an Ethiopian, I found the food to be far from authentic.
On top of that, service was slow and inattentive. Our server brought the check to guests who arrived well after us and ignored us for a while. Overall, disappointed with the experience and it fell flat on both food and hospitality.

Really great spot. Service was perfect. All of the food was superb and I thought the injera here was really nice as well.

It was my first time trying Ethiopian cuisine and I was truly impressed! Friends took me there, and the whole experience felt special — sharing dishes, eating with injera bread, and enjoying rich, aromatic flavors. The atmosphere is warm, the staff is friendly, and the food is full of character. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Absolutely loved my experience at Ethiopian Diamond! The service was outstanding—super friendly and attentive from start to finish. You can tell it’s family-owned by the warmth and care they put into everything. The food was incredible—rich flavors, generous portions, and beautifully presented. A must-visit if you’re in Chicago and want authentic Ethiopian cuisine. Highly recommend!
