Wow! My husband loves chimichangas and that’s how he “tests” how great the restaurant is. I ordered the barria tacos and street corn and OMGGGGG it was amazing!!! Definitely one of the top Mexican restaurants in Jax! I highly recommend and plan on returning!

I’ve been in Jacksonville almost 5 years and I have yet to find a Mexican restaurant that was great. That was delicious. Where the food tasted like it should. I have finally found it we are here for a retirement reception and everything that they had ordered from the tacos to the enchiladas was delicious. I ate a little of everything that was displayed for us and I would have seconds but I’m stuffed. We will definitely come back.

Hidden Gem in Downtown. We arrived on a gloomy day otherwise we could have sat on the patio. There are heaters and a fire pit but due to the wind, the roll up glass garage doors were closed. So this made for a cozy dinner inside. Small with about 20 tables, it was perfect for our dinner. A nice bar and friendly staff started the night off right.
I would highly recommend the Pescado Classico Ceviche. Made with snapper and fresh ingredients it was delicious. Very refreshing and addictive!!! The in house chips are the perfect amount of salt with this dish.
We shared a molcajetes bowl which was perfect to share. Authentic lava bowl and traditional spices, this dish did not disappoint. Just remember to not touch it!! These bowls are HOT!! But that what makes the dish.
There is a signed marquee on the outside of the building to enter. You may be able to find street parking but we just parked in the onsite garage. It was open when we left and no requirement to pay. But given the blustery day, I would’ve gladly paid just to be able to park in the garage anyway.
I could definitely see this as a nice spot on a beautiful evening They even have blankets if you want to take one to the patio.
The restaurant is very unique, and that when you come off the elevator, you walk down the hallway that actually is the kitchen and side station Then it opens up into the HOST STAND and restaurant. But it’s backwards for a reason. You want the view But it’s very unique how it’s set up Will definitely go again and would highly recommend

Estrella has a lovely and casual rooftop dining area as well as a bar and indoor seating. They feature a wonderful view of downtown and the river. The restaurant is located above Vystar.
We had really slow service throughout our meal. It took ages for our server to even greet us and even longer for our meals. The meals didn’t come together, the arrived one by one making for an awkward meal.

Beautiful atmosphere and decor packed into this rooftop bar. Great amount of space and great service. The cocktails are excellent (hibiscus margarita is a standout) and the plates are all shareables which was nice.

The hubs and I had date night here and the new menu at Estrella did not disappoint. We absolutely loved the tapas style of dishes, which allowed us to taste a variety of options. We had the calamari, empanadas, Mexican Street corn, fried shrimp, chips and salsa and it was all amazing! However our favorite dish hands down was their take on oysters on a half shell. My hubs loves raw oysters and I typically do not but we both agreed this was our favorite of all the dishes we tried. There’s lots to choose from so we’re already planning the next time we can go and try the dishes we haven’t tried yet
The servers were very attentive and the outdoor seating is a whole vibe with fantastic views of the river and downtown.

Most perfect view of downtown and the bridge, best service I’ve received from a restaurant in a while; whole crew was polite and sociable and kind. Really good music, complementary blankets while you dine, thank you Ari for making our experience enjoyable. 100% recommend.

I’m a avid traveler throughout the United States and look for some of the better restaurants in america. I happen to live in Atlantic Beach Florida and came out here for dinner. I have to challenge everyone reading this message: GIVE THIS RESTAURANT A TRY! YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED. My wife and I and our adult children came out and sampled about everything on the menu and the food was simply amazing. They have definitely stepped up their game. The salsa was deliciously spicy but not too hot. Vacation complex was amazing. The short ribs were unbelievable and I would recommend getting the 96 oz waterfall margarita tank. If you have a group of six or more it’s worth it. I met the chef and I highly recommend taking a trip out to downtown and sampling all the great food here at Estrella Cocina. Tell him Hank sent you

Start by saying the VIEW IS AMAZING. The ambience is very relaxing aswell. Music was being played outside and it had people dancing in there seats.
Food was not as expected. I had high expections for a place with a spanish name but the dishes fell short on flavor.
The service did not help the dishes. It was very slow service and we kept trying to flag down our waiter constantly it didnt make the food feel worth the wait.
I recommend having only drinks and a good talk outside without food.

Went here for the first time since their remodeling. Overall it was good, but we did have a few hang ups. They must have been severely understaffed because there were some empty tables outside and only a couple seats taken inside, but we still had to wait to be seated. I liked the new additional outside part with an optional cover from the weather, which was where we sat. We were also seated at a communal table and it took about 10 minutes for us to be helped. During this time we were pretty confused about the menu, specifically the molcajetes, because there really isn’t a good explanation on how it comes or what it is. We also thought it strange that all of the appetizers (antojitos) and entrees (entradas) were listed in the same giant category on the menu, which made it difficult to figure out which plates were smaller or bigger. Our server was nice and seemed to anticipate this happening because he offered to explain any parts of the menu before we even asked.
We ordered a couple cocktails, which were fine, but nothing special. We also started with the chips appetizer trio, with guac, queso, and salsa, which was good. The chips were pretty greasy though, and sometimes stuck together and chewy. We also got some Birria empanadas that we all liked. I thought the flavor was just a little bit strange. For an entree we shared the carne mixta molcajete, which was very good, and definitely enough for 3 people! We actually didn’t end up finishing it. The only thing we didn’t like about the dish was that it only came with 3 small tortillas, and one of them was severely broken. This was enough food for 2-3 people so there should be AT LEAST 6 to match the amount of food. This was very strange.
The food we give 4 stars. It was pretty good, but there are a few small ways it could have been better.
The service was the most interesting part of the experience. The host seemed a little impatient as we were asking the options for the night and where we could be to wait. As mentioned, our server was helpful, although a little slow, but it was the table runners that were worse. There were at least 3 dishes that were brought out to our table that we didn’t order and had to say they were for someone else. Then, after we had started eating our birria empanadas, the waiter came over to the other party that was at the table and explained that we had accidentally been given THEIR order of empanadas (we ordered after them). We felt bad about the situation, but we had no idea since they were brought right to us.
Overall, the rooftop is really nice and the place is worth it for the views. The food is good/decent too, but the service needs some polishing, and the menu could be better organized and have more description.
