We went to 1927 the weekend of 2-28-26. We went around 1 and thought the place was closed. I found a staff member in the kitchen and she came out right away. I got a curry chicken salad sandwich, a bag of chips and a tiny pour of Rose. It cost $21!! All of our sandwiches came pre-made in plastic containers. Half of mine was a crust hidden on the inside of the sandwich. The only thing curry about it, was its color. There was zero curry flavor. The rest of my group were also disappointed in their sandwiches also. It was so much better when Wiltshire ran it. Don’t waste your money.

The House of Marigold comes downtown and becomes the resident caterer and cafe at The Speed Museum. While already a nice cozy spot inside, construction is almost complete on a beautiful sculpture garden and patio, which will only add to the seating options. Accepting both “civilian money” as well as “Cardinal Card,” it’s a great spot for students, museum visitors, and community alike to stop by and enjoy a full lunch or just some coffee & pastries.
The food, as is to be expected from the folks behind Marigold Catering Company and Middletown’s House of Marigold, tastes fabulous. And you wouldn’t know from the prices that this was attached to the region’s premier art museum.
Chicken sandwich is freshly buttermilk fried — nice, crispy, and overfills the bun. Fries and crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned with Parmesan, salt, and other deliciousness. Vegetable Pad Thai is a substantial serving and has a tiny bit of zing to it — not too bad, but a good excuse to add some honey cornbread to the order next time!
tl;dr ~ fabulous food, reasonable prices; Cardinal Card accepted; admission to museum not required.

I visited a temporary exhibition at the Speed Art Museum, which was amazing. Stopped for lunch at EST 1927 by Marigold. The Fried chicken tenders were juicy but overcooked, the honey dipping sauce had no flavor, the French fries were okay, and the $10 banana brûlée pudding was not a good dessert experience at all.

This place is a bummer. The food was not tasty, service was strange (guy at the register couldn’t explain any of the options) and the seating is odd. Seats are different heights at the same table, which made dining awkward. It felt like far more focus was put on the decor than on the food and the actual dining experience.
