I’ve lived down the street for a couple years and was pleasantly surprised to have such a great bar nearby. The food is excellent and when I don’t want to eat one of their delicious burgers or the Yard Bird (so yum!), they have very tasty vegetarian options. The Vegan club is so so yummy. The owner is awesome. The staff is awesome. Seafood Dan and his karaoke DJ skills are awesome. The regulars are chill and great conversationalists. There is regularly a game of cribbage happening. The interior is aesthetically pleasing with fun stuff to look at. What can I say? I love this place.

I may be biased after coming to this place for the last 30 something years, but there is a special vibe at The Pub that will always feel like home when you walk in. Between the original juke box loaded with the best of my memories from the 90’s, to the pool table and the well poured drinks, I will forever recommend a down and dirty pop in to Essex St. Pub. And there’s purse hooks under the bar! Who doesn’t love a good hook to hang your bag on while you’re bellied up to the bar?

A true eclectic vibe here throughout the week. If you want a good hearty snack, go for the Bavarian-style, soft nestled pretzels (2 per order). You get a creamy, mildly sweet mustard sauce AND a smooth, semi-salty yellow cheese sauce to mix it up.

I can’t even begin to tell you how kind and courteous the bartender was when we stopped in for a beer after just arriving from Canada. We know a thing or two about nice people, and this guy was an 11/10. Great vibes all around at this place. Will be back.
