Intimate restaurant serving south American cuisine.
Reservations required due to limited seating.
They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
The food is amazing and the service is too.
Their paella is excellent, as are their arepa and cachapa.
We have been here numerous times now and we’ve never had a bad meal.
I highly recommend this place. We love it!

It was incredible! I recommend checking out the online menu & ordering an appetizer and/or soup or salad upon arrival with your drink order like we did; the meals are freshly prepared so they take time —but sooooo worth the wait! The presentation, temperature, taste & prices are outstanding! Chef Martinez is unbeatable!!

My parents love coming to this restaurant, and I must say that it is really good!

I have come a few times before, and I truly recommend. Today we had the following dishes:

Beef Carpaccio (5/5) — one of best Carpaccio in town
Espetadas (5/5) — it comes with side dishes: salad, potatoes, and sausages
Mushroom Risotto (5/5) — it must try!

Great spot in Katy. If you haven’t stop by Essentials kitchen by Chef Martinez, plan for it and you won’t be disappointed by the quality and taste of all dishes. My first time with family here and all dishes were simply delicious. Starting with green tea infused mango was a great idea recommend by the waitress. Then the ceviche Mixto is simply outstanding with great combination of edamames, quinoa, avocado, and all the juices making the ceviche simply unique. Also greatly recommended are the arepas. They are with perfect size, not too tick nor thin. I had the Texas my way made with Brisket and Arugula and a side of kale salad. Great place for eating very healthy dishes also. Great options for kids also, including pastas with chicken. The place is definitely a Katy Gem.

Essentials Kitchen is the place you will hear about if you are in The Heights, Midtown, Memorial but will always say it’s in Katy. My advice is you drive over there and try their dishes. Forget the distance, this is one of those hidden gems that will make you come back.

The warmth of the staff, the modern yet classy layout and the amazing dishes will as Luis the owner says “elevate your experience”. The portion sizes are generous, the flavours are perfectly matched and the attention to detail is always present.

I have been to many places in the world and in the end I have come to one conclusion; eat at places that have shorter menus vs. longer ones.

Essentials Kitchen has a nice wine selection, missed taking a picture of the bottle.

To start order the Ceviche with passionfruit (the plantain chips are addictive), the combination of textures, colours and flavours is incredible!
Main course; try a pasta; Spaghetti Allo Scoglio (it’s got the right spicyness)
Or if you are in the mood for some fish the Australian Seabass, soft buttery tastes with a perfect combination of veggies.
Close off the night or lunch with a delicious Creme Brûlée.

Latest pic; cheesecake with parchita jam.

Enjoy your meal!

Excellent food and service. Very clean restaurant. Mostly South American dishes. Chef came down and said everything is made instantly on the dot. I asked him of they add alcohol or animal fat to the product and he assured they do not. I was so glad. He also said he can make any dish vegetarian since it is made fresh. Just felt like one of those movie scenes the chef comes to meet the celebrity and takes the order they wish. Hahahahaha. I ordered an arepa. Salad came on the side. Food was very good. Thursday-Sun they have music too.

Wow I didn’t expect to find a food so good. The food is out of this world, everything from appetizers to dessert and expreso. I tried Pabellon which it is with a twist and among the 3 best I’ve eaten in my life. My companion party ate paella which I tried and it is excellent. First class service and Chef Luis is a must know Chef ‍
I will come back for sure
If during weekend recommend to make reservations.

Essentials Kitchen is sooo good! This Venezuelan/South American restaurant has great food. I ordered the tequeños (you always need to order them), arepita fritas, spinach dates manchego empanada, and the plantains. I also got the passion fruit and mango drink. There were so many items on the menu I wanted to try! The servers are awesome. Thanks Essentials Kitchen!
