This place is INCREDIBLE, with a great amount of vegan offerings. The quality of the chocolate is unmatched in the area. I love their creative flavors both in the bonbons and on their drink menu. Highly recommend the hot chocolate too – my favor it is the spicy one.

Ordered for Christmas delivery to NY, and they came through with the most gorgeous assortment of chocolates! I didn’t make it easy as I requested nut, gluten and alcohol free to accomodate everyone, but Escazu did an amazing job. Hate that they left Person St, but their new location is still close and it’s a beautiful space.

We enjoyed our vanilla latte. There is a nice patio area for sitting outside. I can’t wait to come back and try their hot chocolate when it is a little cooler outside.

Super cozy little place, great chocolate! I didn’t try too much while I was there but the bars and the toffee are KILLER! On the pricier side but it’s 100% worth it for high quality, ethical chocolate. Tastes 10x better than any of the other “fancy” chocolates I’ve had. Staff are super nice. Need to get back here when I’m back in Raleigh.

A possible chocolate lovers dream.

Nestled in the outskirts of downtown is this fragrant chocolate shoppe with a variety of sweets and other goods.

I loved walking in and being embraced by the smell of cocoa.
We bought some chocolate to send back home to Honduras (our family loves the bars)

The ice cream flavors change, stopping in to see what’s new is fun.

I definitely recommend trying their drinks too, the mocha was rich but a tad too sweet for my liking.

My go-to for all things chocolate! I make my own hot chocolate at home (that is very popular with friends and family) and I ALWAYS buy EVERYTHING that comes from a sustainable AND ethical source when I have the money.
Also their hot chocolate is nothing to scoff at either. They also make hot chocolate the original way (with water) and chocolate from different regions of the world in the most historically-accurate way possible.
Escazu is just that. They work directly with cacao farmers in South America to source their chocolate AND make said chocolate in house!
They are always transparent with their process (which is much appreciated) and where the cacao is directly sourced from.
Also sells many made-in-NC products in shop too so you can support multiple local mom and pop shops in one place—and know exactly where your money goes!
If you have the means—SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!!! They’re doing it the right way 🙂

Best everything–chocolates, ice cream (especially the passion fruit chocolate chip!), hot chocolate! Their toffee is crazy good. Can’t wait to go back.

Beautiful chocolates, wonderful ice cream. My friend had the hot chocolate with peanut butter and her reaction was positively over the top! You can observe their facilities and operation and all the bags of cocoa beans and other ingredients through the windows. Good selection of chocolate bars; I found just what I was looking for.

The chocolates looked great, I bought a good few. But despite nobody else in line, I was rushed through ordering and the employees frustration was on display.

Small talk wasn’t entertained and there was a sort of heightened stressful environment where customers (me anyway) were expected to show up knowing what they wanted and immediately order without conversation, pay, and leave.

I also ordered a coffee which was not great but not too bad, but it was filled too full and the lid leaked.

I’ve been a long time patron of this shop – first when I was an undergraduate student almost ten years ago at NC State, and again as a post-graduation student at Duke, following a five year break while I was in the Navy.

This place has been consistently amazing since day one. I feel it’s one of the few places that didn’t change in the five years I was gone, allowing me to feel like I was back home again!

I love their unique chocolate truffle flavors, their push pop ice creams, their coffee… everything! The shop items are really nice as well, and a good place to get something local as a gift for someone…or even yourself 🙂

My only wish is that they had indoor seating, but the space is unfortunately a bit small to provide that, but as long as the weather holds, it’s such a great stop if you live here in Raleigh, or you’re just visiting 🙂
