Ernies Roadhouse: A Must-Visit Destination for Comfort Food and …
Reviews
We visited on a Sunday, around 4pm. It was not yet busy and probably a good thing we decided to eat when we did as it appeared they were preparing for at least one, probably two, larger group events later that evening.
The atmosphere is fantastic – rustic and relaxed – and when we entered we were pleased to see there was a group of eight or 10 folks seated at a table near the door with a variety of instruments, fiddles I guess. And they played several songs over the course of our visit. Not sure what that was all about, seemed like a recreational thing. Anyways, super quaint. We were seated in a different part of the restaurant (it’s quite large) so the music was more in the background and not overwhelming.
Anyways – the food – oh my god, the pictures of Ernie’s Burger on the website do not do justice to this masterpiece of a burger, to this new found personal raison d’etre. The burger looks like it is wearing a flowing gown of melted cheese when its brought to the table – perfectly crispy on the bottom, gooey and melted on top. It’s definitely a burger where you alternate between knife and fork and hands. I could eat this burger weekly and will 100% return.
Service was good – hostess and server were friendly. Tip prompt on the debit machine starts at 18% – encourage the owner to adjust that to 15% which is the normal tipping amount.
Melinda was our server and we also got to try her dessert which was absolutely phenomenal, we all tried it and it’s a 10 out of 10. Reese’s peanut butter cheesecake!!!
Between us we ordered a Smashburger pulled pork sandwich the Ernie’s Burger the mac and cheese and the kids chicken tenders, everybody is raving about the food and how full they are.
Everything was hot, fresh had a great taste and only 20 minutes wait from order to the table.
This is definitely somewhere we’ll come back again and again!
We drove 25 minutes home and it was still hot and steaming when we plated it up!
Tender and full of taste. We got 2 dinners + a lobster tail (not pictured was a bunch of potatoes, corn, sausage, shrimp and mussels).
Hope they do this again!
Just last weekend we threw my step dad a surprise 70th in the back section. The service was amazing. I’m not sure of the waitress name, but she was very petite and blonde. She was the best waitress I’ve ever had. Hands down the most lovely, helpful human.
The food was amazing, all 45 of us enjoyed our meals. We chose to order off the menu, but there were tons of options for food served to larger groups.
Joel was who I dealt with through email and the booking process was very easy.
We were allowed to bring decorations and our own cake. And to top it off there was live music playing.
I will definitely keep this spot in mind when I need to book another large gathering.
Plus I will continue to come eat here with my family on a regular.
Another Update: AMAZING burger during their Monday special. Wonderful service from Demi! Excellent deal.
UPDATE: Enjoyed an outstanding brunch here! SO much delicious food, great choices, amazing desserts. Potato soup delicious! Excellent eggs Benedict. Cinnamon scones and donuts- yum!
One of the best Caesars I’ve had (watch the spicy green bean) and fresh mimosas…highly recommend Ernie’s for Sunday Brunch. Very reasonable.
Suggest you follow Ernie’s on Facebook to keep up with their daily specials. When we learned this Monday was their burger special, we were looking forward to trying their Ernie’s cheeseburger with the melted cheese ring. It didn’t disappoint! Great that it came with a choice of fries, salad or daily soup as a side. Burger was great. Fries would have been better had they been extra crispy. Side salad was very good. A surprise birthday treat was provided to our friend we were celebrating- it was a delicious butter tart. Their other desserts looked amazing. Understand their brunch is very good too, but check if reservations are required. Their balcony seating overlooks the river and will be lovely in the warm weather.
