If your in Ellicott City and in the mood for authentic Mexican cuisine, come to Ernesto’s. Service is a bit slow sometimes but once your with your server they treat you like family and are food is delicious. The decor and music take you into Mexican culture and out of the EC Enchanted Forest for a moment. Everything is priced well and the portions are perfect. Parties and large gatherings would be a lot of fun here.

I ordered steak and shrimp fajitas, after eating and enjoying talking to my friend, i found a piece of hair in my steak. I called the first person i saw to report what i saw in my food. The person who i called was the owner and i thought she would be helpful. Instead of apologizing, basically she accused me that the hair that was in my food was mine and that no one in the kitchen is a woman. She asked me to pull the hair out from the plate, we were surprised because it wasn’t just one piece of hair, but it was two pieces of hair. One was smaller and the other one was wrapped around the steak. Both of the hair color was dark. I am a brunette. I was very disappointed because I’m a local resident and come here very often and all the waitress and waiters are very kind. I expected so much more from the owner because the waiter tried as much as he could after the incident to make my friend and i feel satisfied with the service. It was not his fault.. ~EB.

If you want good Mexican food that fills the plate with quick service and a pitcher of margaritas this is your place. The tables and benches are starting to show some wear, but it’s because it’s a well loved local establishment. It’s consistent and they are thankful for your business

Great price for the quality of food. The authentic taste proves and setting is great for a date night or celebrating festivities with friends. Drinks are well priced also. If you like authentic Mexican cuisine and an intimate setting, this is more fitting. Highly recommend the fish tacos and Tortilla Soup.

This place was ok for me. Our bill was almost $100 for 5 people with no alcohol. A little pricey for the food quality. My wife enjoyed a shrimp dish and our daughter enjoyed the shrimp tacos. My fried fish tacos were okay but a little bland. My mother in laws chicken breast meal wasn’t bad. The guacamole was pretty bland. It’s an ok place but I’m not super excited about returning. I would give it a try though if you have never been here.

I love Mexican food and have been to many Mexican restaurants in Ellicott City and Columbia. Somehow I had not ever visited Ernesto’s. What a mistake! Ernesto’s was fantastic. A friend and I went in mid-afternoon after normal lunch hours and there were only a few people in the restaurant. The table service was superb and the menu choices were multiple. I had a hard time deciding between the generous proportions and very reasonable prices. After filling up on chips and a very good salsa dip I settled on a three entree plate that included a large side plate with massive helping of the fixings to go into a crispy taco, a brisket enchilada, and a ground beef enchilada served with rice and a huge portion of very good refried beans. I think I found a new and additional restaurant to add to my list of Mexican food places to go.
