A little bakery-food-tea/coffee outlet on the ground floor of Vanderbilt building. A touch on the more expensive side and limited menu. Limited seating inside. Tea was ok, and pastry wasn’t as good as some of the Korean French bakeries the city, but it is convenient beside Grand Central.

This was one of those “let’s stop for an orange juice” moments that quickly turned into trying every macaron flavour . Such a fun spot for people‑watching while enjoying sweet treats . And just a heads‑up the mango macaron was absolutely delicious .

Excellent quality, though pricey

I stopped at Épicerie Boulud in July 2025 to grab a quick bite before a meeting in the same building. I got a grilled chicken sandwich on ciabattawith sun-dried tomatoes, arugula, and goat cheese. They warmed it up, and it turned out to be delicious – the ciabatta was fresh, the filling generous, and it had a satisfying amount of goat cheese. It cost $15 with tax, but it was worth it.

I’d definitely come again.

Sometimes a name is just a name. Huge disappointment. The baguette on the ham and cheese sandwich was not crispy and too chewy like it was sitting in the display refrigerator. I will never order from here again and this should be an embarrassment to the chef. I expected passion and quality control. What I got was a sandwich worthy of a chain restaurant.

Pain au raisins pastry was good. Crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle. Their sandwiches looked simple and tasty. The regular coffee was not great tasting a bit burnt and lacking a deep flavor profile.

The honey apple cake is a standout, with a comforting, homemade flavor reminiscent of classic apple cake. I’ve also enjoyed several delicious pastries, and their selection of teas is lovely.
Today, I tried the matcha latte, though it wasn’t whisked well enough and had some clumps. Hopefully, this will improve next time, as I’m eager to try it again.

Staff is outstanding. Aldo is truly exceptional!! I come here almost every lunch hour to relax and enjoy! You should be very proud if this staff – they are professional, polite, friendly, accommodating- just the best. If only they didn’t have to deal with some of the awful tourists – which they do with patience and grace and kindness!!! Nothing but compliments for every single one of them – especially Aldo!!!

The coffee here is reasonably priced and really tasty.
The cakes are good value and most of them look a good size.
Unfortunately the cake slice I had seemed a lot smaller than the ones at the front of the cabinet.

The plain croissant and the matcha latte were great, but the whole place is really awkward, with little seating, uncomfortable chairs, weird window communal table and a tiny ledge on a column. They have more space, why not make it more comfortable and inviting? Also, the plastic cups and paper pastry pockets are ridiculous for dine-in. I guess it’s more tailored to takeout rather than dine in.

Disappointing. I expected so much more from Chef Boulud. Expensive, to be expected. Very small store. Limited seating, a row by the window. As soon as you walk in, you see rows of basic Cape Cod chips. You would think they would fry up their own crisps.
They offer soup, sandwiches, salads, chai & oats, pastries and beverages hot and cold.

2 boiled eggs are $3! Lots to choose from.
But nothing really special. Madeline $2.50, chocolate chip cookie (small) $3.50. The only pastry that jumped out at me was the Meyer’s lemon tart $8. Most of these items you can get at Paris Baguette and cheaper and tastier.
Service is slow, they only had one person working. They are located right across the street from Grand Central Station, in the newly renovated building on Vanderbilt Ave.
