From the moment Enso opened back in 2023, my fiancé Alex and I have loved every part of it. To start, the food is some of the most incredible food we have ever had. The fusion of Japanese and southern is stunning and so flavorful. Chef Weeks is truly an artist! Not to mention the delicious cocktails and wide array of sake to accompany the incredible food. The menu changes seasonally and there are always incredible specials, so you never get bored with the menu (though even if it stayed the same forever we would still come back once a week!!) Next, the ambiance is fantastic. We love the outdoor covered patio for the atmosphere, music, and overall good vibes. Lastly, the staff is incredible. We love all the waiters and hosts, and if you can get Alex, one of the waitresses, you absolutely should. She is so kind and fun to be around!! Enso is our favorite place in Louisville and we don’t give that title lightly! Highly recommend!

Had such a lovely date night at Ensō! Our server, Edie, was an absolute delight, so funny, and most importantly so knowledgeable about the food and drinks offered. The food was 20/10 delicious! We had the Hamachi Crudo (my favorite bite), Sesame Broccolini, Miso Potatoes (one of the specials), and for our entrees we had Fish & Spaghetti and Duck Dipping Noodles! Dessert was yummy Matcha Cheesecake! The ambiance was great and the staff was so friendly as soon as we walked in the door — from the hostess, to the bartender, to the other servers! We can’t wait for our next Ensō date night!

Just had one of the best meals at Ensō this evening. Beautiful space, phenomenal service, and the food was so special and delicious. My husband has celiac and they asked right up front about allergies, which we appreciated. We’re already plotting our next visit with friends. Highly recommend!

I’m obsessed with Enso. The mark of being a Louisvillian is knowing all the other things a space has been in the past. It is my favorite iteration of a restaurant in this space. The food is best defined as Southern cuisine with a flare to Japanese techniques. I’ve been there now 3 times with different people and enjoyed my experience every single time. In advance, I’ve made a reservation online through OpenTable. They will wait for your entire party to arrive before you are seated. I have sat inside and outside. The patio has great vibes. Once your entire party arrives, they will seat you at a table and provide the menu. A very Asian sentiment: You are given a warm washcloth to clean your hands off. The first time I went, we ordered the Sailor Moon Cocktail. It was delicious. We then ordered some appetizers to share. Ive been here 3 times. So I’ve ordered a variety of items. We also have gotten the mushroom skewers which were delicious. The one item that I’ve gotten every single time is the Japanese Potato Salad without the bacon. It is delicious. On our first visit, my friend got the ramen. She loved it. On my last visit, I had the frito pie. It was vegan and incredible! They utilized Carolina gold rice, a vegan house made chili, topped with lettuce, onions and vegan cheese. You are given side Fritos to top the dish. It was so filling and so absolutely tasty. I truly appreciate how many options they have for vegetarians. And when you’re not eating. You have a beautiful space to take in. This is the freshest, most airy use of space. It’s open, inviting and so pleasing to the eye. You feel comfortable and welcomed. Every meal and experience and Enso has been wonderful. The menu keeps changing so I can’t wait to go back again.

Excellent flavors, many of which were unique! The style is a mix between US Southern cooking and Japanese food (e.g., the octopus hushpuppies, which were actually a kind of hushpuppy and not takoyaki). The decor follows the seasons, right now being the holiday season. The indoor atmosphere is bright yet comfy.

Service was excellent. If they keep it up, the service is an added reason to try out Enso.

The dining experience is suited for sharing food. I recommend ordering a wide variety of items for sharing. This way, everyone can try out many different flavors. She-crab noodles are a must-try–rich and creamy and savory.

My guest and I have had Enso on our list since the restaurant opened, and overall we had a good experience.

The food overall was very enjoyable, and our server, Lindsey, was prompt and spoke about the menu thoroughly when we had questions. The ambient atmosphere was nice but I will say that crowd chatter echoed a lot, which made conversation a bit difficult.

We look forward to coming back.

Love this place! Walked in to a beautifully decorated space with tons of natural lighting. Our server Kirsten was quick and very attentive and all the staff working were incredibly kind. The cocktails were amazingly fresh and exactly what we needed in 93 degree weather. The food was top notch, so unique, and incredibly tasty! We didn’t get any photos of the food unfortunately except our empty bowls .

For these prices, I expected better. Having been to Japan a few times, wife and I are not new to Japanese cuisine. While the fusion with Southern food worked with some dishes, the portions for the price is outrageous.
Some of the dishes were great, then some had issues where the flavors didn’t mix as well as it should have with all the ingredients.
Where this place shines is the friendly and efficient service, along with the wonderful atmosphere of the restaurant. Lots of room for improvement, and plenty of potential.

I am usually not a fan of fusion food. But when I found out about Enso & saw the menu, I was intrigued. Japanese & Southern? OK. Give ot a try.
1st of the online reservation is the most detail I have ever done. It gives us option of indoor, covered patio or patio. I picked covet patio.
2nd. The setting, the decor is adorable. Live plants here and there even in the bathroom.
3rd. Our waitress name is Gabriella. She’s prompt, knowledgeable about menu and friendly. Before we came we already learned about the menu & knew what we’re going to order. We knew we’re going to order All of Each of the Skewer which is lamb meatball, beef, chicken, okra, mushroom and rabbit. Yes. Rabbit. And that’s one of the reason I wanted to try this place. And their version of Takoyaki and side of rice.
Gabriella brought the special & our mind fixated at Duck Ramen. So 2 duck ramen and all of each of Skewer for us.
4th. The food came ultra quick. We had our ramen first and then our Skewers.
5th. Ramen is delicious. The broth is tasty. The duck is crispy. The octopus takoyaki is crispy. All the Skewers except for the Okra, marinated really well. I was especially surprised of the beef and the mushroom ones.
5th. The portion is not stingy. Actually generous. It’s not like that fancy place where the price is high but the portion is a baby size.
6th. The manager, Bobby came to our table. He is also friendly, polite, down to earth. We chatted a bit. Nice gesture that I don’t see in other places. (Well, ok. At the fancy Korean place with famous chef, the chef somehow managed to skip my table when I was dining there)
All around we are very satisfied of the food, service and the atmosphere of Enso.
We’ll be back and let all our friends to try this place!
