However, after Enrique passed, the restaurant declined in quality. I’m not surprised, as he ran a tight ship, keeping the food hot and fresh, just as he wanted.
Today, though, after more of his relatives got involved in the restaurant’s operations, they’re back! Two excellent meals this week, just as I remember them from earlier days.
I ordered the Asado Cubano this evening, with hot shredded pork, rice with black beans, and fresh avocado with roasted veggies (they were out of plantains, unfortunately). My mother ordered the birrias, with cheese and seasoned shredded beef in mini tortillas, lightly pan-fried. Everything was served hot and fresh, and looked absolutely amazing. We dug right in, quickly clearing our plates, and left super happy.
I’m SO GLAD the quality is back! You’ll see that my plate was completely empty. I don’t usually see that in these reviews, so I thought I would share that so you’d know that you won’t leave here without being COMPLETELY satisfied with your visit! Go! Eat! Be happy! Don’t forget the chips! Probably the most memorable item on their menu. I didn’t review them because so many others have already raved about them in these reviews. They’re right!
I left 3 stars for the atmosphere because the lighting is super bright, too much for my taste. But seeing the runway right outside the windows is a cool feature of the location. So 5 stars for that!
I only have one small observation: your menu is too much it’s even hard to look at trying to decipher what it is that you sell. Pick your 20 most sell items and craft your menu around that. Make a page dedicated to your American options with clear options.
Thank you for the good food and service! We hope to come by more often!
Check the hours before coming. This is somewhat in between TexMex and Mexican. They bring salsa……but you do have to PAY for chips. Chips are homemade and not like corn tortillas. I recommend you ask for CRISPY. Chips are like thin sopapillas and are soft and floppy. Queso is not free. In my opinion, I think it’s better to get an order of nachos (again, CRISPY) instead of paying for chips and queso. They do not have a traditional sour cream sauce for enchiladas which is always a strike in my book. They do not offer shredded beef. We’ve been here a few times and have seen planes come and go but not this time so it’s not guaranteed. You can see the runway from your table inside the restaurant. All in all this is just an okay restaurant with okay food. No wow factor or flavor.
We tried these Dulce sopapillas this time and they are really good. And they had planes this time.
Service is always fast and friendly, just like the rest of this great state.
10/10 I will eat at this business every time I come to this City.
This business is at/in the airport, which is strange, but it works!
I have never had a bad meal or bad service.
The chips were awesome! Everything was tasty. Will be back next time we come through town.
