We are traveling in our RV and staying in Ennis. We wanted to fill our tummies before heading out sightseeing.

The service was great and the food was fantastic. I had 1/2 biscuit & gravy and ate the whole plate. It was very good. My husband had the french toast and his plate was empty too.

Family friendly. I highly recommend.

All our food was well cooked and tasty. I got 3 eggs over easy with sides of strawberries and sourdough toast. Eggs were perfect, strawberries were fresh but only a small cup, and 1 TINY piece of toast for 3 dollars. My son ordered a sausage egg and cheese sandwich. It came out with no sausage? When told the waitress she said they were out of patties, but she could bring out links. As we were finishing the links came out. Why weren’t we told when they found out there was no more sausage. Kinda like getting a cheeseburger with no burger. It was given to us like we wouldn’t notice. My wife’s omelet was very good. Responding to owner: It wasn’t a miscommunication! A sandwich that was to have a sausage patty didn’t. It was brought to our table like we would not notice. When we said something, waitress said you were out of them! We had to call her back to say something. You knew it before it was served. Oh,boy we got 2 links as we were leaving to make up for it. Never a sorry or come back while you’re in the state to make it up to you. You know we aren’t locals, so,what’s the big deal about a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich without the SAUSAGE. Oops and 1 miniscule side of sour bread toast for 3 dollars! It was smaller than an English muffin. There was no misunderstanding.

This place has fantastic breakfast! No paper bacon that crumbles at first touch or fake eggs here. The hash browns, which i usually skip, are cooked to perfection. The pancakes have some secret twist to it that would make the most critical lumberjack come back for more. I got the Mt Holmes, which comes with thick bacon (one more slice than you would expect, perfect amount of droop, and nice pepper flavor), fresh eggs, a slice of thick ham buried under everything to keep it hot, and those surprisingly good hash browns. A second plate has a short stack of grandma’s kitchen, competition level pancakes. Highly recommend this restaurant.

This place has some excellent food! We had breakfast here and everything was amazing! If you are a tourist and want the west atmosphere, this is the place! Do you have to wait for seat and wait on food! Yes you do, but if you need to wait on food and to be seated, I topically means the food is worth the wait! And oh boy it was worth it!

Cute little local cafe. Waitress was nice, coffee was hot. The food was fine, I just ordered 1 egg ham and hashbrowns, but it took an unacceptable amount of time. We thought we had been forgotten when finally we were brought a menu, …wait… finally get coffee…wait…. Finally order then 45 minutes later we get a simple breakfast. During that time were weren’t asked if we needed more coffee. I think there must be only one person cooking, it just took forever. There was lots of local chatting with the waitress, too, it would have been nice if we could have gotten a refill on coffee, or be told why it was taking so long.

Places like this is the reason why I don’t give 5 stars to anywhere that is just decent.

-Everything is cooked to order with fresh donuts every morning
-Very friendly & involved staff ‍

This place is FANTASTIC. Classic small town diner feel with above and beyond staff and food with a great menu. The cook (also the owner I believe) cares tremendously about what he serves. When he wasn’t cooking, he would be out in the dining area politely checking on everyone’s meals to ensure that everything was to their liking. Also overheard him taking a man’s order and explaining all the different ways he could prepare the man’s meal to his specific liking in a very friendly and patient way. No hint of being inconvenienced in his voice or body language whatsoever. The staff clearly enjoy being there. Never rushed me to order or after I was done eating, and were friendly even when a rush hit!

They offer fresh made donuts too, but make sure you come early for those because they sell out fast! They also sell HOMEMADE jams to take home which were super delicious to spread over some bread toasted on the fire by the river.

One thing I really enjoyed about the menu was they had inexpensive lighter dishes along with all the classics. Unlike a la carte items, these were complete entrees, beyond half order (though they have that too) just in portions for someone like me who doesn’t eat as much as most people. See photos below and all for $7.50 if I remember correctly!

Best breakfast in town in my opinion. Can’t wait for them to have more staff so they can be open more frequently! I will certainly be back if I’m in the area.
