I’d a very bad & awkward experience last night. apart from Lamb Biryani, which was definitely not a Biryani, everything was below standard. Allo Paratha was the major disappointment. No card accepted only cash. No other employees. Never going to comeback here.

We stopped for dinner and loved the food. The owner is the server and chef. The quality and flavor of the food was excellent and I haven’t had better customer service in any other restaurant in north Idaho. A corporate chain restaurant can’t even compare. That’s the difference between an owner taking pride in his business and work and an employee who doesn’t care just doing their job. We will definitely be going back.

I love Indian/Thai food and I came to Emperor of India with my dad with high expectations and they were most certainly met! The man who served us (and also cooked, I believe) was incredibly friendly and helpful, and truly cared about the quality of our experience. As soon as he found out we were New Mexicans and wanted the highest caliber of spiciness, he seemed thrilled and even asked our permission to fiddle a little with what we ordered. The food was amazing! Some of the best Indian/Thai food I’ve ever had (I ordered the former, my dad the latter, and we shared). Definitely try this place out!

Curry, rice ,and nan bread were amazing I have eaten at many Indian restaurants in Portland and Utah and this is my favorite. Very tasty! Ambiance and music very nice as well. The host was very kind, price was well worth the portion sizes given. Just bring cash for payment, they do not accept CC, but well worth it !!!!!!!

The owner was very knowledgable about cuisine and its preparation and treated us with the utmost respect. My grandmother and me both had curry and it was something that I would have paid twice the price for. The lamb was grade A, melted in my mouth. There are some bad reviews on google, none of which I experienced when I ate at the Emperor. Check out there Trip Advisor profile. 80+ reviewers average of 4.5 stars.
You will not be disappointed.

It’s hard to find good dining does not steak and potatoes. If you like to try something a little different some great Indian cuisine this is your place. The man that runs this restaurant really as customer service down I think we could all learn a lot about how to treat people from this man. It’s a good break away from a steak and a salad the norm around here

The food was very good. The decor is nice and comforting with a strong Indian and Thai theme, as the name suggests. The restrooms each have two toilets, but no dividing stall walls or doors, so unless a family with young children comes in, each gendered restroom is essentially single-occupancy. For atmosphere, the music is on a searchable system, like YouTube, so try requesting something if you are the only one(s) in the store. Otherwise, we listened to some modern Indian music and also some German Industrial Metal. It was fun.
The owner is the server and the cook and the manager – it’s a one-man show and he does it fairly well. He takes his time to make sure the food is well-prepared and hot when it comes out, so typically one person will get their food at a time. He is very agreeable and will listen to you. If you don’t like the food, he will bring you something else. He is good with receiving constructive feedback.
One important thing: cash or check only, no cards. Conveniently, there’s a US Bank ATM right across the street. Be prepared to spend at least an hour and a half, but expect to be well-fed, perhaps with left-overs.

Food was sub-par and a far cry from being authentic. Actually it just had nothing to do with Indian/Thai food. The owner is clearly a food enthusiast and should really know better. They don’t take card and didnt inform us until we tried to pay. Only thing keeping this from being 1-star was the owner’s exceptional friendliness.

This is the first Google review I have ever written.
What an outstanding restaurant. I moved here from Canada (Vancouver, BC to be specific) where the food scene is vastly cultured and SO competitive – in flavours, price, promotions, etc. Being a HUGE foodie, that’s become one of the main things that I’ve missed. I can see that the demographic around here isn’t quite there yet – many people just aren’t used to this kind of food or aren’t interested in trying. If you’re reading this and you’re one of those people, I implore you to try this.
– The owner is SO incredibly humble and helpful, he didn’t hesitate to improve our dining experience any way he could. He clearly works very hard and does his best to stand out. The restaurant had an authentic aesthetic, calming atmosphere and was impeccably clean.
– The portions are HUGE! It would be a great place to sit down with your family and order a few things to all share (and even then I’m sure you’d have leftovers, like we did) – on top of that, the prices are super fair.
– They have PLENTY of beverages to choose from (beers, chai tea, coffee, sodas, juices, smoothies, mango lissa, etc). There’s less adventurous options such as fried rice, and simple chicken dishes (such as chicken tenders and fries) as well as a kids menu where you can even find PIZZA. The menu is vast and offers lots of options, whether you want vegan, vegetarian, chicken, beef, lamb, seafood, etc. There really seems to be something for everyone here.
TIP: Make sure you remember to withdraw some cash, cards are not accepted here (my husband had to run to an atm, which was no problem of course) if you do forget there is one close by so don’t fret!
I HIGHLY recommend this place. We were completely WOW’ed and will definitely be back.

My wife and I began dining at the Emperor of India, since it was first in Moscow, ID. What we found there is the same as what we found in Lewiston. Great! The owner is the cook and waiter. He takes pride in serving the customer from greeting to exit. He takes pride in his cooking and always concerned if his guests are pleased with it. He has added some Thai dishes to expand his customer base. The decor of the restaurant is not that of a four star restaurant, but typical of Lewiston. It is warm, friendly, and clean. However, the meals are on par with any four star Indian restaurant in the world. I have eaten at expensive Indian restaurants all over the world, including India. They were no better. We would eat at this restaurant more often, but we live in Moscow. We will be there tomorrow evening.
